Examples ofArts et Métiers contributionArts et Métiers innovative business projects

The Arts et Métiers site Arts et Métiers Bordeaux was approached by the Airbus Group to find an energy solution suitable for a two-seater electric aircraft concept and to help implement the industrial resources needed for its production. The Bordeaux site also worked with Advtech, a company specializing in innovative mechanical solutions, to develop the structure and prototyping of urban wind turbines.

The Arts et Métiers Paris site is involved in designing a system for extracting brake particles from automobiles. Tallano, an engineering firm specializing in microparticles, is drawing on the school's expertise to develop a turbine.

An eco-friendly wooden hall on the Cluny site

Since late 2016, the Arts et Métiers site Arts et Métiers Cluny has had a hall covering more than 1,000 m² that houses a technical research and development platform and research teams. This space is dedicated to work on wood machining and performance characterization, one of the site's specialties.

Support and mentoring

Since 2010, the school has been a partner ofthe Passeport Avenir association, whose mission is to help young people from modest backgrounds achieve professional success in fields of excellence. The program includes tutoring sessions, thanks to the skills sponsorship of mentors working in partner companies, as well as thematic workshops and introductions to different sectors of activity.Arts et Métiers engineering studentsArts et Métiers benefit from this support throughout their studies.

The essential role of Arts et Métiers students

Students also have the opportunity to contribute to society by participating in civic initiatives—such as helping to renovate historic or public buildings—or humanitarian and social projects. In 2009, two students from the Arts et Métiers site Arts et Métiers Lille created Tutorat AM, an association that offers math tutoring to young people at a technical high school. Several first-year engineering students, supervised by second-year students, put their skills to work for around 30 high school students.

Another example of student involvement is the OPTIM program ( Orientation and Program for Technology, Engineering, and Management), which aims to support middle and high school students in their transition to higher education. Weekly tutoring, visits to on-site laboratories , and company open days are designed to broaden their horizons and raise their ambitions.

A relationship of trust develops between tutors and tutees. Participate in regional development

On February 18, 2016, the school signed a partnership agreement withENSMM in Besançon (École nationale supérieure de mécanique et des microtechniques), the only institution in France offering a specialization in mechanics and microtechnology. This partnership approach is fully in line withArts et Métiers  strategyArts et Métiers  to contribute to regional economic development by partnering with leading institutions in their fields.

Multiple forms of cooperation

The Arts et Métiers network, a consortium of higher education and research institutions, aims to better respond to the innovation challenges faced by businesses. Joint initiatives may involve training programs, scientific cooperation, or international development. In addition to ENSMM, the network already includes ESFF (École supérieure de fonderie et forge), ENIM (École nationale d'ingénieurs de Metz), andthe Institut de Soudure, focusing on cutting-edge specialties that offer broad opportunities in industry.

The Industry of the Future Alliance, of which Arts et Métiers a founding member, will organize and coordinate the most promising initiatives. To remain closely attuned to the realities on the ground, the Alliance's actions will be relayed across the regions, for example to support SMEs and mid-cap companies in modernizing their tools. Arts et Métiers thus Arts et Métiers offer companies an open environment and appropriate technical support, drawing in particular on its regional network.

Young people attracted to the industry of the future


For the fifth consecutive year, Arts et Métiers the results of its study entitled "Young People and Industry," conducted in partnership with OpinionWay. The study aims to understand and analyze how high school students studying science and technology perceive industry.

For Laurent Champaney, CEO ofArts et Métiers, the results of the survey are essential for the institution: "They enable us to better understand young people's perceptions and aspirations, and therefore to design or adapt our training programs, always in collaboration with industry stakeholders."

High school students in science and technology streams have a more positive view of the industry than ever since the survey began, with 77% of them having a favorable opinion of it. Far from the image sometimes conveyed of an aging sector, young people are optimistic about industry, considering that, in addition to being a crucial sector, it is also a sector with a bright future. They see this industry of the future, based on innovation, as a realistic prospect. The desire to work in industry has increased slightly (+3 points) to almost one in two young people (46%). The three most popular sectors are those with the most modern image, particularly renewable energies and electrical, electronic, and digital equipment.

Let's dare to embrace industry


" Osons l'industrie " (Let's dare to embrace industry) is a collaborative project coordinated by the Alliance Industrie du Futur (Industry of the Future Alliance) in partnership with Arts et Métiers,UIMM,IMT,ONISEP, andCNI. With the aim of providing information on changes in professions, qualifications, and skills to young people seeking career guidance and to employees who are currently working or undergoing professional retraining, the "Osons l'industrie" portal is also a source of content for those involved in initial and continuing training.

The portal presents the "5 families of future careers" (maintenance, big data, management, production, and supply chain) and provides reliable and clear information: main tasks of the selected career, skills to be acquired to pursue this career, typical working day, training related to the career, ONISEP publications, videos illustrating the career, etc.

Developing the Arts et Métiers identity Arts et Métiers the ELF 4.0 project

TheEvolutive Learning Factories ELF4.0) Arts et Métiers project Arts et Métiers to gradually enhance existing tools with new industrial technologies, digital technology, environmental issues, and societal issues. Launched in 2021, this project is the priority for the coming term. The goal is for Arts et Métiers sites Arts et Métiers their ELF project over the next five years and integrate these new tools into all their training programs.

Developing the institution's environmental and social responsibility

The institution wishes to continue integrating environmental and societal aspects into its culture and operations. A major objective is to obtain the "Sustainable Development & Social Responsibility" label for ESR institutions in 2023, following on from the signing of the Grenoble Agreement on January 31, 2021. Arts et Métiers train its students in reducing the environmental impact of industrial activities and developing carbon-free energies and, more generally, in managing socially responsible industrial activities.

Attract and train more talent

With a goal of bringing in 50% more talent by 2027 to build the industrial France of 2030 (by diversifying backgrounds and attracting high-potential profiles), Arts et Métiers develop its training capabilities in both initial training and lifelong learning, while maintaining the excellence of its degrees. Among the avenues being explored are the development of apprenticeships and academic partnerships that will complement Arts et Métiers offering Arts et Métiers its research potential.

Better supporting industrial companies in their development

With the ambition of helping to develop innovative industrial companies in France in 2030, Arts et Métiers positioning Arts et Métiers to better support them: the youngest among them in their start-up phase and the most established in their international development. To this end, Arts et Métiers to:

  • Encouraging industrial research in support of France 2030
  • Hosting industrial startups at all sites
  • Expand the business support activities carried out by AMValor and AMTalents internationally, drawing on its strategic partnerships.

Feminization

To attract more girls to technology and science courses, Arts et Métiers an exhibition in 2017 entitled "Technology, feminine noun," consisting of eight large-format photographs. Each photograph depicts a female student or young engineer Arts et Métiers in her work or study environment, illustrating the diversity of professions and technological expertise in the industrial sector.
The exhibition, which toured all Arts et Métiers sites Arts et Métiers 2017, is now on display in Paris.
Arts et Métiers also a partner of the Elles Bougent association, whose goal is to introduce young girls to engineering and technical studies and professions.
Arts et Métiers students Arts et Métiers participate in all the events organized by the association (networking and career forums, "Women in Engineering" or "Women Innovating for Digital Technology" days, etc.). Many of them are also involved as mentors for Elles Bougent and share their experiences.
These initiatives need to be developed further, because although female students make up 23% of the national doctoral program and 35% of Specialized Master's® programs, they still only represent 16% of engineering programs and 10% of bachelor's programs.

A comprehensive range of initial and continuing education programs

As a prestigious engineering school, Arts et Métiers constantly Arts et Métiers its range of initial and continuing education programs. It now offersgeneral engineering andspecialized engineering courses (work-study programs), a bachelor's degree in technology, as well as 27 research master's degrees, 16 specialized master's degrees, and 1 MBA and doctoral studies. The entire spectrum of technological training in higher education, from bachelor's to master's degrees, is thus covered to meet all needs and expectations.

Five strategic research areas

As a disseminator of knowledge and innovation, Arts et Métiers also Arts et Métiers to their production, thanks to 15 research laboratories and a doctoral school. The challenge?
