Arts et Métiers two types of prior learning assessment: Validation of Prior Learning (VAE) and Validation of Professional and Personal Learning (VAPP).
- VAE allows you to apply for all or part of a professional certification without returning to school.
- The VAPP program allows students to pursue higher education even if they do not have the required credentials or degrees for admission to their chosen program.
The Validation of Acquired Competence can thus provide support for professional development or retraining.
Validation of acquired experience - VAE
VAE allows individuals to obtain a professional certification—or one or more of the skill sets that comprise it—by demonstrating their professional and personal experience.
All Arts et Métiers certifications Arts et Métiers in the France Compétences directories are available through the VAE pathway.
Although VAE exempts candidates from following a traditional training program, it is nevertheless a process that requires a strong commitment on the part of the candidate and will be assessed by a panel of examiners.

Recognition of Prior Learning and Experience (VAPP)
The VAPP is a regulatory program established in 1985. It allows anyone, regardless of their educational background, to enroll in a degree program without holding the qualifications or diplomas typically required, provided they can demonstrate significant experience related to the program in question
