AMVALOR, the economic arm ofArts et Métiers

In March 2016, Arts et Métiers a subsidiary, AMVALOR, to promote and enhance its research activities. This work is carried out in close collaboration with local communities and must meet the needs and demands of businesses.

AMVALOR is the promoter of partnership-based research. This company promotes relationships between laboratories and companies seeking technological solutions, research and industrial transfer expertise, and training for their innovative projects. It is a structure that strengthens the coherence between the scientific and commercialization activitiesArts et Métiers providing greater visibility for the expertise offered by the Arts et Métiers network, which is established throughout the region.

Meeting technological challenges

AMVALOR's primary role is to identify companies' needs in terms of technological developments and innovation. It then mobilizesArts et Métiers scientific, technical, and teaching teamsArts et Métiers develop appropriate responses. The subsidiary can draw on the school's 15 research laboratories to conduct collaborative research partnerships, studies, measurements and tests, technology watch operations, or organize themed events (seminars, symposiums, conferences, etc.). It coordinates, sets up, and manages projects. Another major aspect of AMVALOR's work is to encourage and assist in the promotion and transfer of knowledge from theArts et Métiers laboratoriesArts et Métiers products, materials, processes, know-how) to companies, with the support of its transfer teams and technology platforms.

Finally, AMVALOR promotes the emergence and creation of start-ups through its participation in investment funds (e.g., Pertinence Invest). It develops activities to promote the intellectual property of Arts et Métiers laboratories Arts et Métiers licensing, spin-off incubation, equity investments, etc.) to increase the economic impact of innovative ideas resulting from research studies.

AMVALOR focuses on topics developed by the following sectors

  • Factory of the Future: manufacturing processes, operational excellence, virtual and augmented reality, collaborative industrial robotics, digital engineering; functional surfaces and materials; non-destructive testing;
  • Transportation: automotive, aerospace, rail, marine;
  • Health: biomechanics, medical imaging;
  • Energy: smart grid, storage, clean production, turbomachinery;
  • Sustainable construction: thermal, wood, and eco-friendly materials for buildings.

What is an EDIH?

An EDIH (European Digital Innovation Hub) is a digital innovation hub funded by the European Union as part of the DIGITAL EUROPE program. These hubs, which prioritize key sectors such as artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and high-performance computing, aim to strengthen the digital skills of industrial SMEs in the regions.

Coordinated by the European Commission, they act as one-stop shops to support businesses in their digital transformation and improve their competitiveness.

EDIHs offer:

  • Access to technical expertise to test and improve digital products, services, and processes.
  • Innovation services: financing advice, training, skills development, and integration of environmental issues (sustainability and circularity).
  • Regional presence combined with a European network, facilitating access to expertise and the exchange of best practices.
