Le Blé du Cœur: An innovative solution that optimizes production lines to combat food waste

Thirty engineering students from the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Cluny are working on an innovative solution: transforming a shipping container into a connected, automated micro-factory to recycle unsold bread into eco-friendly, socially responsible flour. The prototype, called FlourBox, will be operational this summer in an industrial bakery in Besançon and will enable around 6 tons of bread to be recycled.

On Monday, June 16, the Arts et Métiers campuses Arts et Métiers , Châlons-en-Champagne, and Paris gathered at the headquarters of Heidelberg Materials France to sign a sponsorship renewal agreement for the next three years. This renewal marks the continuation of a collaboration that began in 2022 for the Angers and Châlons-en-Champagne campuses, and is further enhanced by the addition of the Paris campus.

As part of their training at the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Bordeaux-Talence, five engineering apprentices carried out an international solidarity project in Ethiopia. Through the association they founded, Ethiopie Solidarité Internationale, they set up a humanitarian mission in partnership with a local NGO. The initiative proved to be a valuable learning experience, both on a personal and professional level.
