Louis Jeannin and Nicolas Caligiuri, recent graduates Arts et Métiers co-founders of the company FOXAR , won Clémence Rougeot, their new recruit, the PEPITE 2020. They look back on their journey and their project.

The winning team is growing

The FOXAR team won the 2020 PEPITE award after winning the regional award last year. This victory is all the more gratifying as Louis Jeannin and Nicolas Caligiuri are sharing it with Clémence Rougeot, the company's newest recruit. Clémence joined them in December 2019 as an intern studying for a Master's degree in Cognitive Engineering of Learning and Technologies for Professional Training at the Learning and Development Study Laboratory (LEAD). Since September 21, she has been working on her CIFRE thesis at FOXAR, in partnership with the LP3C laboratory inRennes.

Working with Foxar gives me the opportunity to directly apply research findings to a cause as important and essential as education. Clémence Rougeot

The €10,000 prize will enable them to continue developing research experiments in cognitive science and ergonomics, with LP3C and LEAD. It has now been over a year since the young entrepreneurs were put in touch with this laboratory thanks to Frédéric Mérienne, deputy director at the Institut Arts et Métiers Chalon-sur-Saône and professor of the MTI3D Research Master's program from which Nicolas and Louis graduated. Back in 2018, they had already won the Défi challenge with a project developed for La Poste, where a fox-shaped night light was used to present the application.

FOXAR diversifies its offering

This fox has become the mascot of their company, which aims to offer augmented reality educational modules available on smartphones and tablets for elementary, middle, and high school students. The FOXAR project provides a whole new way of understanding concepts in the school curriculum that seem abstract on paper but are much easier to grasp thanks to augmented reality. The company was founded on July 1, 2020, and is located in Nicéphore Cité, a digital engineering hub in Chalon-sur-Saône, which has been supporting them since the beginning of their project.

Augmented Reality is inherently a very intuitive technology to use, but we want to go even further by working with public research specializing in ergonomics and cognitive psychology. Nicolas Caligiuri

They are delighted to be able to offer a first beta version of the FOXAR application in early November to all the teachers who have supported them since the start of the project, particularly those in the Chalon-sur-Saône and Dijon areas, as well as within the Versailles school district. This beta version will also be open to any interested teachers who request access.

Today, FOXAR is also expanding its offering to include professional training. They are developing educational modules on technological and industrial topics for the UIMM in Dijon/Chalon-sur-Saône. With this experience, they are expanding their customer network by turning to private players, while continuing to develop their expertise in augmented reality education.

They share their experiences

For the third consecutive year, they have signed up for PEPITE UBFC and are participating in Boot Camps where they can share their experiences and benefit from the PEPITE UBFC network in the form of training and advice. The Boot Camps are held at the Royal Saltworks of Arc-et-Senans.

Foxar's goal with this ergonomic research is to ensure that all students have the same level of visibility and therefore understanding of all the complex points in the school curriculum, especially for students with the greatest difficulties. Louis Jeannin
