The Partnership Between EDF and the Arts et Métiers Campus Arts et Métiers Lille: An Example of Multifaceted Collaboration in Support of Research and Education

On June 11, 2026, the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Lille hosted representatives from EDF’s executive management for a meeting highlighting the main areas of focus for the partnership in training, research, and innovation.

A Foundational Academic and Industrial Partnership

This meeting provided an opportunity to put into perspective the historic partnership between EDF and Arts et Métiers, which is characterized by its longevity and the diversity of its areas of focus.

Research collaborations are supported in particular by the L2EP laboratory and the LAMEL joint laboratory—which celebrated its 20th anniversary last May—which is dedicated to the modeling of electrical equipment and the simulation of electromagnetic phenomena. As a true tool for collaborative research, this initiative demonstrates the ability of both organizations to jointly carry out long-term projects of high scientific value.

Furthermore, projects in the field of energy transition—such as the GROUPEE 4.0 program—demonstrate a joint commitment to addressing issues related to renewable energy, smart grids, and new energy applications.

A strong commitment to engineering education

The partnership between EDF and Arts et Métiers also Arts et Métiers of an approach to collaborative educational development. The group actively contributes to the campus’s training programs through the Evolutive Learning Factoriesprogram, the Chair in Industrial Management, and, in particular, its support for specialized training programs in the field of energy.

This collaboration is taking concrete shape through the development of the Nuclear Systems Engineering (ISYNUC) program, which was launched in Lille at the start of the 2025 academic year to meet the sector’s growing needs amid the revival of the nuclear industry in France.

Developed in close collaboration with industry partners, this training program benefits from the active involvement of experts from EDF and its ecosystem, both in the design of the content and in its implementation.

Stronger ties with students and local communities

EDF’s presence on campus also takes the form of regular initiatives designed to benefit students, including career workshops, tours of industrial sites, participation in career fairs, and support for entering the workforce.

These interactions help ensure that the skills developed by engineering students align with the needs of the energy sector. They also help strengthen the partnership’s regional roots, particularly in the Hauts-de-France region, where EDF is a major industrial player, notably through the development of the Gravelines Nuclear Power Plant (CNPE).

A collaboration focused on the energy challenges of tomorrow

The visit concluded with testimonials from two students in the ISYNUC program who are currently completing their end-of-study internships at the Gravelines Nuclear Power Plant and at Framatome Jeumont, highlighting the resources made available to support their training.

Beyond this meeting, Arts et Métiers EDF reaffirm their shared commitment to continuing and strengthening their strategic partnership, with the aim of training highly qualified engineers and developing innovative solutions to support the energy transition and industrial transformation.

The Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Lille would like to thank key EDF representatives—Arnaud Delacroix, Hervé Lebreton, and Carole Chataigner—for their commitment to the students and staff.
