An initiative to promote research into Ehlers-Danlos syndromes
Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) is a rare genetic disorder that affects collagen, the main component of connective tissue found in many tissues such as the skin, joints, and blood vessel walls. Between 10,000 and 50,000 people in France are affected by this condition. The main clinical signs include hypermobility and joint fragility, hyperelasticity and skin fragility, and life-threatening vascular fragility. Diagnostic errors are common. TheRando Raid de la Loire Arts et Métiers event raises funds that are donated in full to research into this disease, particularly at the European Georges Pompidou Hospital's rare vascular disease research center, as EDS does not receive any public funding.
