Four new Erasmus+ projects are strengtheningArts et Métiers European partnerships, including two coordinated projects. The goal? To disseminate educational innovations and support sustainable training.

A strategy focused on European cooperation

With four new Erasmus+ projects secured in 2025 (CircLean, IDT4EU, DigiReady2, and LF4VET), Arts et Métiers its desire to become a key player in training in Europe. Two of these projects are coordinated by the institution and led by the European Projects Department of the Deputy Directorate General for Research and Innovation, in collaboration with the Deputy Directorate General in charge of Evolutive Learning Factories ELF).

These projects, funded under Erasmus+ Key Action 2, aim to develop innovation in training. They also enable the dissemination of good practices from the ELF program across Europe, in particular the JENII project, which was completed this year.

IDT4EU: amplifying the legacy of JENII

The IDT4EU (Immersive Digital Twins for European Universities) project, coordinated by Arts et Métiers, is a continuation of the JENII project. Funded to the tune of €400,000 over three years, it aims to disseminate immersive digital twins developed, for example, the forge on the Metz campus, to European partners, notablythe Warsaw University of Technology andthe Polytechnic University of Milan.

The project will also train teachers in the use of these digital twins, while aligning with the European Virtual Worlds strategy. They represent a true collaborative learning ecosystem, where students can experiment, interact, and learn in new ways.

CircLean: training in sustainable and circular skills

The second coordinated project, CircLean, led by LISPEN on the Lille campus, is developing learning modules on circular manufacturing and digital technology. It brings together Arts et Métiers, the University of Coimbra (Portugal), and the KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden).

Using an exploratory and immersive teaching approach, the aim is to co-create course modules for our students, which will also be available for continuing education. The topics of lean manufacturing, the circular and sustainable economy, and the integration of technology will be addressed in a cross-disciplinary manner in order to identify synergies and incorporate them into the teaching sequences that will be developed.

From factory schools to AI: ELFs are expanding into Europe!

Arts et Métiers also a partner in two other projects: DigiReady2, coordinated by the Greek Universities Network with partners in France, Spain, Greece, and Cyprus, and LF4VET (Learning Factories for Vocational Education and Training), coordinated by the Basque center IESFP Migel Altuna.

LF4VET extends the work carried out on factory schools

This project aims to support the digital and ecological transformation of vocational training through the learning factory approach. Mobilizing a multidisciplinary team, the DGA andthe Chambéry Institute with the I2M laboratory, the project has received €94,000 in funding over 30 months and has three main objectives. It will enable the design and analysis of interdisciplinary learning situations based on ELFs, producing concrete teaching cases to facilitate their adoption by teachers. It is also an opportunity to share the ELF experience with European partners who also use factory schools, in order to identify unique features. Finally, the project will complement the work undertaken in national projects such as École de la batterie, ConfluencES, and RéClasSIF.

The DigiReady2 project aims to assess and strengthen the digital maturity of universities through artificial intelligence.

This is an opportunity for Arts et Métiers strengthen its data governance, experiment with advanced digital management tools, and raise its profile within a European ecosystem of excellence. It will receive a budget of €53,000 and will contribute to the design of a quality assurance model tailored to the realities of French and European higher education institutions. The aim is to validate the robustness of the indicators and provide concrete recommendations for improving the institution's digital governance.

Arts et Métiers in the scientific promotion and sharing of the project's results: writing case studies, producing evaluation reports, and disseminating lessons learned through international conferences and seminars.

Erasmus+ at Arts et Métiers

Erasmus+ is the major European program that supports education and training. Its ambition is to train and innovate in order to create a more inclusive, connected, and sustainable society.

For Arts et Métiers, this program represents an opportunity to collaborate with European partners, share expertise, and experiment with new teaching approaches. In 2023, the institution secured its first Erasmus+ project, GreenDiLT, dedicated to transforming the use of digital technology in training.

The four projects launched this year are part of Key Action 2 of the program, dedicated to cooperation between organizations and institutions. It encourages the creation of innovative European partnerships in research, training, and skills development.
