Specializing in virtual and augmented reality, the Institut Arts et Métiers Chalon-sur-Saône is joining this 4,000 m² space alongside three other co-founders: Cnam BFC, UIMM 71, and Usinerie Partners, contributing its expertise in training, research, and innovation, as well as its cutting-edge equipment related to Industry 4.0.
TRAINING AND RESEARCH PROJECTS TO DEVELOP MIXED REALITY IN THE INDUSTRIAL SECTOR
The Usinerie aims to boost the region's appeal and address the human resources challenges faced by local businesses by offering training courses ranging from high school diplomas to doctorates.
The Arts et Métiers Institute Arts et Métiers Chalon-sur-Saône meets this objective by offering training and research opportunities to students, doctoral candidates, and industrialists, particularly in the development of virtual and augmented reality in the industrial world.
It offers a science-focused master's degree that is part of a unique program in France: the Management of Interactive 3D Technologies (MTI3D) program. This two-year program provides students with theoretical and practical skills in interactive 3D technologies that can be applied in the professional world.
His research teams, ipart of the Physical and Digital Systems Engineering Laboratory (LISPEN - EA 7515) at Arts et Métiers, are particularly interested in multisensory immersion techniques in virtual reality and augmented reality, applied to digital modeling in many fields: industry, health, education, construction, etc.
Already collaborating with major groups such as Renault, Safran, and Suez, the Institute's researchers, engineers, and research professors will put their expertise in virtual reality at the service of companies in the region, enabling them to meet their needs with tailor-made support for their digital projects and training in new Industry 4.0 topics.
PROVISION OF STATE-OF-THE-ART TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT
Usinerie also aims to strengthen the competitiveness of companies through innovation and technological development in line with Industry 4.0. The Institut Arts et Métiers Chalon provides state-of-the-art equipment in the fields of virtual reality, augmented reality, and digital twins, such as a living lab, an immersive virtual reality space of the CAVE (Cave Automatic Virtual Environment) type, driving simulators, virtual reality headsets, and more.
One of the Institute's flagship tools will also be available to companies in the first half of 2023: the Blue Lemon. A cube measuring approximately 3 meters on each side, it can retro-project stereoscopic images onto five surfaces (including the floor and ceiling) and is one of the few devices in France capable of providing high-quality virtual immersion.
The Chalonnais region is thriving and recruiting, andArts et Métiers missionArts et Métiers to meet the needs of manufacturers through training, research, and innovation, and to anticipate the skills of tomorrow. L'Usinerie will enable us to develop collaborative projects, offer new training courses in partnership (such as the big data engineering course with the Cnam) and support local companies in the digital transformation of their industrial processes, saysFrédéric Mérienne, deputy director of the Arts et Métiers institute Arts et Métiers Chalon-sur-Saône.
