Simon Poujade is a continuous improvement consultant at Kaizen Institute. This Arts et Métiers engineer Arts et Métiers Bo214) shares his experience with engineering students at the Lille campus through lectures in industrial management courses.
Meeting the needs of engineering students
Learning about industrial management tools and models is good. Putting them to the test in real life is even better! With this in mind, the industrial management teaching team at the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Lille called on Simon Poujade, an Arts et Métiers engineer and consultant at the Kaizen Institute. This former student had taken industrial management courses during his semester of specialization: "At the time, it was these courses that made me want to start my career in this field!" Simon Poujade is now a continuous improvement consultant. He visits his clients' companies to study material and information flows, from the receipt of materials to the shipment of the finished product. His goal is to reduce production time and increase fluidity and comfort at work by eliminating unnecessary or time-consuming actions.
Combining theory and practice
"I teach industrial management courses in the first and second years. Using real-life cases studied at the Kaizen Institute, I illustrate the tools and methods presented in class," explains Simon. Kaizen Institute is involved in all areas, including industry, commerce, energy, marketing, IT, and more. For example, Simon Poujade presented the case of an automotive subcontractor that wanted to optimize its flows to increase its production capacity by reducing manufacturing time. These are all real-world challenges that Arts et Métiers engineers will have to tackle!
