On November 20, 2018, at the Institut Arts et Métiers Laval, Adrien Lecossier defended his thesis in Industrial Engineering on the topic: "Proposal for a model of the upstream phase of innovation to enable a mature industrial company to create radical innovations." Meet this young doctorate holderin search of innovation!
From entrepreneurship to a PhD!
After earning a technical degree in Physical Measurements at the University Institute of Technology in Le Mans, his hometown, Adrien Lecossier continued his engineering studies at ISTIA, where he enrolled in an entrepreneurship program. His training, along with his internships and the people he met during his studies, gave him a taste for research and innovation, which he put to good use in a thesis aimed at proposing a model for the upstream phase of innovation to enable a mature industrial company to create radical innovations.
A thesis to develop a new model of innovation
After completing his training, Adrien LecossierjoinedSOURIAU, a company specializing in connectivity solutions for harsh or extreme environments, as Innovation Project Manager. This experience allowed him to understand the difficulties faced by "mature" companies in pursuing, alongside the incremental innovations they have mastered, radical innovations that could ensure their long-term sustainability and growth. He therefore proposed toSOURIAUthat it develop, as part of a thesis in collaboration with LAMPA(Laboratoire Angevin de Mécanique, Procédés et innovAtion) attheArts et métiers campusArts et métiers , a new innovation model for all employees and departments within the company.
This model enables the development of a collaborative experience that facilitates the exchange, generation, experimentation, and validation of radically new concepts, thanks to the implementation of dedicated structures and the use of new tools (artificial intelligence, additive manufacturing, robotization, etc.). It thus enables this large company (2,600 employees) to adopt a start-up-like approach to its innovation process.
Beyond all the technical knowledge you acquire, a PhD is a very enriching experience that allows you to discover more about yourself, but also to meet wonderful people, particularly at research seminars and international conferences.
With his PhD under his belt,Adrien Lecossiernow wants to continue his work exploring and implementing solutions for innovation in an industrial setting that is open to challenges!
