Corentin Lallet, a young engineer from the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Châlons-en-Champagne, looks back on his end-of-study internship at Airbus Helicopters in risk management. It was an enriching experience that helped him refine his career plans.

We cultivate a taste for projects at Arts et Métiers

You only need to talk to Corentin for a few moments to realize that the word "project" is the fuel that powers his intellectual engine. Arts et Métiers training Arts et Métiers has enabled Arts et Métiers to work on a wide variety of projects. As president of the Arts et Métiers Student Association Arts et Métiers 2015 to 2016, Corentin was responsible for student life on the Châlons-en-Champagne campus. As part of his professional projects, Corentin worked on the design of a two-dimensional force machine.

"Through the various projects I worked on during my studies, I was able to see what I really enjoyed doing. Managing a project from the design phase through to completion is something I find very rewarding."

The former engineering student therefore wanted to focus his internship in this direction.

My end-of-study internship was supposed to be at the crossroads of my various aspirations.

After furthering his knowledge in the field of aeronautics atthe University of Sherbrooke, Corentin joined Airbus Helicopters in risk management. The former engineering student worked on the H160 program, Airbus's medium-sized helicopter. This is a segment that the manufacturer believes will see the most growth in the next decade (Les Echos.fr, 2017). Corentin's mission was to streamline the costs of risks associated with the production process for this helicopter using various calculation models: "In particular, I applied Monte Carlo simulation (seen in class) to a risk management policy. This algorithmic method calculates an approximate numerical value using probabilistic techniques."

Through this internship at Airbus Helicopters, I gained a cross-functional perspective.

Under the responsibility of the Project Managers, Corentin was tasked with monitoring figures, commenting on the risk status, and proposing a weekly action plan. "Production can experience delays, so I had to assess these in terms of costs and propose corrective actions."

Corentin worked in an open-plan office with more than 100 colleagues. " This workspace suited me perfectly. It made it easier to share information and, in my opinion, was the ideal setup for project work. "This internship gave the former student a cross-functional view of Airbus Helicopter, and he adds , "I acquired technical skills in the processes used in the aeronautics field [...] I also had the opportunity to work on a report to certify an aircraft."

The "human" side of education is the soul of the School.

For young engineers, the Arts et Métiers program Arts et Métiers connections: " At Arts et Métiers, we have an incredible ability to adapt. This is something that is appreciated by all employees. The word 'human' perfectly sums up my education at the school. "

Corentin is currently a consultant at PW Consultants, a consulting firm specializing in payment methods engineering and risk management process improvement. It's a career path he wouldn't necessarily have considered before his end-of-study internship.
