Mélissa Navarro Rodriguez, bachelor's student, class of 2016.
Thanks to an excellence scholarship, the young Mexican student entered French higher education and chose the Arts et Métiers bachelor's degree program.
Acquiring practical knowledge and gaining professional experience through various internships were the primary motivations for Mélissa, who enrolled in the bachelor's degree program in technology at the Châlons-en-Champagne campus last September. She discovered Arts et Métiers Mexico thanks to a partnership between her French-Mexican high school and the French institution. This brilliant student will also receive a French government Excellence-Major scholarship to complete her studies in France.
Adapting to one's new environment
Freshly arrived from Central America, Melissa is also learning to live independently and discovering a radically different culture: "It's a new country for me and therefore a new system that I have to adapt to. It's a very enriching experience... Even if it is still cold here."
His favorites? French-style training and lifestyle.
A strong taste for industry
The bachelor's degree in technology fully meets her expectations: "I would like to acquire a sufficient foundation of technical knowledge to gradually get closer to the world of industry and, ultimately, start my own business," explains the student. "What I like most here is the opportunity to use different machines and create our own parts. In Mexico, we couldn't practice. It's also interesting to see that the French are much more comfortable than we are with the various technological tools."
Melissa also wants to take advantage of her training to improve her French language skills. "Even though I come from a Franco-Mexican high school, the language barrier is still there when it comes to fully understanding the lessons, but I know that with time, this constraint will become less and less significant."
