Eloïse MinderandMaël Sombret are the first students in the MTI3D Master of Science program atthe Arts et Métiers Institute Arts et Métiers Chalon-sur-Saôneto win an award at Laval Virtual, which took place from July 7 to 9, 2021. They secured a spot in the finals of the next Interverse Virtual Reality Challenge (IVRC) in Japan, where they will present their rehabilitation tool for people affected by COVID-19.

Virtual reality as a tool for prevention and rehabilitation

Remember, Eloïse Minder and Maël Sombret took part in the IEEE 3DUI Contest held as part of the IEEE VR conference from March 27 to April 2, 2021. This led to the publication of a scientific article.

They chose to help people affected by the virus regain their independence. Their app, called "Rebirth-20," allows users wearing immersive glasses to perform a series of exercises in a virtual world. These physical exercises (movements, breathing, and relaxation) are based on those used in fibrosis rehabilitation. Virtual reality immerses the user in a bubble, a cocoon, where they can escape to the sounds of nature.

TheRebirth-20app is also a prevention tool where users are guided by a virtual guide to discover how to limit the spread of the virus. Invisible in the real world, it is modeled in the virtual world.

See you at the next IVRC trade show in Japan

Eloïse and Maël took part in the latest edition of Laval Virtual and won second prize in the IVRC Award student competition, earning them a place in the final of the nextIVRC 2021 exhibitionin Japan.

This award is all the more satisfying as we are the first team of students from MTI3D in Chalon-sur-Saône to have won an award at Aval Virtual.

Eloïse is currently doing an internship at Davi in Nevers, a company specializing in artificial intelligence. Maël works in the ABMI design office in the nuclear industry in collaboration with Framatome.
