The institute in Chalon-sur-Saône, which initiated this challenge, is supported by partners such as theUIMM's 21-71 training center,Nicéphore Cité, and theGreater Chalon metropolitan area. The goal of this challenge is to open up economic opportunities for businesses through the use of digital technologies. We return toÉloïse Minder, winner of the "Economic Opportunity" award, to discuss her project for Framatome.

Eloise Minder

His career

I completed a scientific baccalaureate with a focus on engineering sciences, followed by a BTS (advanced vocational training certificate) in optical engineering with a focus on photonics. During my BTS studies, I completed an internship at the FEMTO-ST research institute in Besançon.

This internship motivated me to continue my studies. I really enjoyed the tasks I was given, mainly working with fiber optics.

I continued my studies at the Télécom Saint-Etienne engineering school, where I enrolled in a work-study program in "Image, Photonics, and Smart Industries." I completed my work-study program at Framatome, and they offered me a job after I graduated. I worked there for a year, but then I realized that it wasn't really what I was looking for.

In an R&D department, I felt that the research aspect was missing. So when I discovered the MTI3D master's program, I didn't hesitate. I left my job to start the first year of the master's program.

What Eloise takes away from her Challenge

The Chal’enge challenge allows you to test yourself in the field. It is not your average school project. It allows you to network with professionals from different sectors.

This challenge also teaches us to simplify our discourse in order to communicate with companies about the applications they want. In addition, the student team is made up of students from different fields of study, which leads to interesting encounters.

This challenge allows us to strengthen our skills in IT development, team management, project management, and customer management.

I also remember the intense two weeks spent developing a functional application that met the company's specifications. It was a great challenge, and we are delighted to have won an award.

Will the project continue with Framatome?

We have received positive feedback from Framatome on our work. This project will provide them with an example of augmented reality application that they will use to promote these technologies internally.

They asked us for our video to share it on their networks, and for a demonstration of the application in front of several people. We are currently planning a date.

They plan to offer an internship next year to enhance this application and perhaps develop others.

His professional projects

I'm going to continue on to the second year of my master's degree.

At the same time, I am participating in the "Entrep'" program, which teaches the steps involved in creating a start-up.

We want to develop an interactive virtual reality "remote" meeting application. The added value of our project is the inclusion of a camera, such as a Kinect, to capture the user's movements and translate them in real time onto the avatar.

We want to rehumanize remote meetings by creating an immersive environment and adding the nonverbal aspect of communication.

Our project is yielding good results and our team is motivated. We are considering participating in a start-up competition with the aim of perhaps securing support from an incubator at Nicéphore Cité (in Chalon-sur-Saône) to develop the project.

Otherwise, I think I might continue with a PhD after my master's degree.
