At Laval Virtual Asia, held from June 27 to 29, 2019, in Qingdao, China, Arts et Métiers AR2BUILD, an application that can scan volumes in seconds and is revolutionizing the field of digital architecture by linking 3D scanning to IFC digital models.
AR2BUILD: an alternative to bulky 3D scanners for BIM digital models
AR2BUILD is an application that allows users to scan the rooms of a building, from floor to ceiling, including partitions, window openings, and doors, in just a few clicks using a smartphone. This application is revolutionizing the field of digital architecture by linking 3D scanning to IFC digital models. The model brings together files that can be modified by all professionals involved in the project, giving it the interoperability that is increasingly in demand in the context of BIM (Building Information Modeling). This tool is also a suitable response to the energy and digital transition required for the building sector of tomorrow.
An innovative application for construction industry professionals
Developed by research engineers at the LAMPA laboratory Arts et Métiers (Laboratoire Angevin de Mécanique, Procédés et innovAtion) and AMvalor, a subsidiary ofArts et Métiers, the application meets the needs ofBimeo, the company that owns this product. Their goal: to better equip construction professionals, such as project managers and architects, to quickly and easily scan buildings and create plans. In just a few clicks and seconds, the application instantly retrieves the scanned data in digital format, taking into account each element accurately and separately. Specializing in the design of immersive and collaborative tools dedicated to innovation, the LAMPA team has also made it possible to annotate scans during the recording phase by adding photo post-it notes. Linked to the Bimeo platform, this process facilitates the work of the project manager by providing a survey during the construction phase, allowing plans to be drawn up quickly and reducing the time spent on an energy renovation project.
