On June 13, Arts et Métiers the Institute for Reindustrialization founded by CESI,EPF, GIM, and SYNTEC Ingénierie organized a conference on the theme "What ethics for the industry of the future?", moderated by Fabien Claire, HR journalist.
The industry of the future involves significant technological and digital changes. This round table aimed to provide feedback from both expert professionals and committed student spokespersons and tomorrow's professionals.
Three major issues were addressed during this event:
- What is an ethical and responsible manager?
- Can CSR boost a company's business?
- How do sustainable development issues fit into the industry of tomorrow?
Each speaker highlighted the main challenges posed by ethical issues for the industry of the future: benevolence on the part of managers, a culture of integrity and loyalty, consideration of CSR at every level of the production chain, the role of the circular economy, a responsible ecosystem for sustainable growth, etc.
The various presentations highlighted the standards and regulations in force in the industrial world (ISO 26000, for example), marking a clear trend towards CSR framework in particular. This regulatory context can be a catalyst for change, but it is not enough to meet the major challenges for the sustainable industry of the future. Changing things from within, innovating, renewing, and placing people at the center of concerns can help to drive the debate forward.
Beyond current events, this conference also provided an opportunity for the audience in the large lecture hall to reflect on the role of each individual, both within the company and within society as a whole.
Is ethics becoming central to the industry? Yes, but moving from the declarative level typical of any socially responsible company to a level of concrete actions and decisions is the goal for the coming years. Pragmatism, exemplarity, authenticity, and integrity are today's watchwords for tomorrow's professionals.
