The Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers is hosting the academic final of the Engineering Science Olympiads organized bythe UPSTI (Union of Industrial Science and Technology Teachers). Nearly 180 high school students divided into 35 teams will present their prototypes of innovative and functional inventions.
This national academic competition was created in 2009 on the initiative of the Union of Industrial Science and Technology Teachers (UPSTI). It aims to develop an interest in engineering sciences among high school students studying science and engineering or STI2D (science and technology of industry and sustainable development).
This year marks its 10th anniversary. The National Engineering Science Olympiad is open to high school students in their junior and senior years studying science and technology at public or private high schools offering general and technological education.
Educational objectives: to evaluate and reward experimental multi-technology projects in engineering sciences and to develop students' initiative, interest in research, and engineering skills.
Having fun with technology
To participate in the Science Olympiads, you need to enjoy playing with technology: coming up with an idea and spending hours developing it to find the right technical and technological solution. All technologies are welcome: virtual and augmented reality, robotics, electronics, mechanics, etc.
All the projects presented are functional and meet everyday or professional needs.
Promoting innovation and the development of new technologies
Arts et Métiers pragmatic engineers, combining technological knowledge, a sense of innovation, and team spirit. These are the qualities found in the high school students participating in the Engineering Science Olympiads, whichArts et Métiers support by hosting this event.
Each team will present its experimental project and explain its design and implementation process to a jury, with prizes awarded by the campus and event partners.
The winning team will participate in the national final on May 28, 2019 (oral presentation of the experimental project, followed by the awards ceremony). The national final will take place at EDF headquarters (Saclay plateau).
