Respect for the environment, solidarity, and teamwork: these were the watchwords of the solidarity afternoon organized byArts et Métiers engineering studentsArts et Métiers Wednesday, September 11, in partnership with the city of Lille and in the presence of Martine Aubry, mayor of Lille.
Nearly 150 Arts et Métiers engineering students Arts et Métiers the Lille campus took to the streets of the Faubourg de Béthune neighborhood to participate in a large-scale cleanup operation. "We wanted to continue this collaboration with the Lille city council, which began three years ago, in order to raise awareness of environmental issues among first-year students," explains Lynda, a second-year student.year and organizer of the event.
The afternoon was also an opportunity to meet local residents and associations. "This is something new compared to last year. We sensed a real desire among the people of Lille for dialogue. Among other things, this allows us to introduce young people to the engineering profession and our studies," adds Lynda.
It is clear that the experience of last year's engineering students has borne fruit, as nearly 40 second-year students volunteered to accompany them, with a certain amount of emotion. "Last year, I helped build a donation cabinet, and this year I'm discovering that it's really being used by local residents, who come to drop off books and other items," says Lynda.
Philippe Degobert, director of the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Lille, welcomes this initiative.
The commitment of Arts et Métiers engineering students Arts et Métiers the city is well established. Every year, we are delighted to support them in these charitable initiatives, which help to promote the values of Arts et Métiers engineers.
