It was a special afternoon for first-year students at the Lille campus on September 7: cleaning playgrounds, raking leaves, decluttering... This afternoon of community service in the Faubourg de Béthune neighborhood was organized as part of the values transmission period, in partnership with the city of Lille.
As soon as the tools and equipment provided by the town hall were delivered, the students got to work: groups were formed and instructions were given by the town hall. After a few hours of cleaning, the students returned to the community center to brainstorm slogans for the next clean-up day and ways to improve the neighborhood's living environment. Thibault Gras, head of the school's community outreach program, was pleased with the day's results: "It was a huge success! This is the first year we've carried out a project with the Béthune neighborhood, and everything went well. It's very rewarding to provide concrete help to the residents of Lille."
The day went smoothly and the outcome was positive in every respect.
