He holds a Master of Science Business Management fromIAE Lyon and has been working in Myanmar for four years, Olivier Maubon aims to introduce a corporate environmental approach to countries where such initiatives are still in their infancy. The Specialized Master® in Change Management and Sustainable Innovation provided him with the necessary expertise.
The MS Management of Change and Sustainable Innovation (MCID) enables emerging, more sustainable consumption patterns and the associated economic models to be taken into account. This involves global changes within the company that must be learned to implement and manage.
A strong taste for travel, then a job abroad
Olivier has always loved traveling. In fact, his academic journey was punctuated by trips: a vocational degree in industrial maintenance, a trip, a bachelor’s degree at the IAE in Lyon, another trip, a Master of Science Business Management (B2B), and then an internship in Thailand! Master of Science his Master of Science hand, Olivier decided to become an International Corporate Volunteer (VIE) program at a small company, which allowed him to spend 24 months in India setting up a subsidiary and establishing a network of branches. At the end of that contract, he spent four years in Myanmar (formerly Burma) working for a technical assistance firm on oil projects.
The need to return to France and take stock of my professional situation then became apparent.
A more ethical vision of industry advocated in a Southeast Asian country
Olivier has discovered a desire to set up a consulting company between France and Asia, aimed at SMEs wishing to start exporting, for example. His underlying goal is to bring a more ethical and sustainable approach to local development. To this end, he wants to undertake further training with a dual focus: technical and industrial on the one hand, and environmental on the other. He is attracted by the "sustainable innovation" aspect of the MS program in Chambéry and its cross-disciplinary approach combining technical, expertise, and management skills. What's more, it is a one-year program, including six months of classes, which is just right for him.
Finally, the region is perfect for this skiing and mountain hiking enthusiast!
A positive mid-term review
The Chambéry institute is a small facility with a small team and plenty of space. This makes for a pleasant learning environment, and the teaching staff are very approachable.
He now has a good grasp of product life cycle assessment (LCA), even though this was not his primary goal. However, he appreciated the social, ethical, and CSR aspects of the course and feels that there is a good balance between the technical side (LCA, materials, end-of-life products) and the managerial side (change management, design thinking, innovation).
Furthermore, the members of the class did not come directly from academia and had varied professional backgrounds, which suited him well, as he was a little concerned about finding himself in an overly academic environment.
Olivier is now in his internship period until September and, for his business creation project, he has just joined the Savoie Technolac incubator, a dynamic hub that includes the Chambéry institute. His project is underway and is called Facineo.
What should we say to future candidates?
Enjoy the team, the library, and the mountains! Be open to challenging yourself, especially when it comes to concepts that may seem a little confusing at first, and be flexible so that you can get the most out of the training!
