Martin Millischer, a first-year engineering student at the Châlons-en-Champagne campus, has set himself the goal of launching SK'AM (Skate Arts et Métiers), a skateboarding club. His idea is to generate real enthusiasm for the sport by creating a club for it within the school. The model is designed to be replicable at allArts et Métiers campuses .
.
The project was launched in January by Martin, a first-year engineering student and avid skateboarder. With the help of Laurent Thunin, the campus safety advisor, the student first had to put together a dossier covering the technical, safety, and budgetary aspects of the ramp. This dossier was then submitted for approval to Giovanni Radilla, director of the Châlons campus. To finance the construction of the ramp, Martin applied for funding from the Société des Ingénieurs Arts & Métiers.
Once this administrative work was completed, Martin was able to move on to the implementation phase. In the space of two days, the engineering students from the SK'AM association managed to build two skatepark modules (quarters) which, once assembled, form a half-pipe (a U-shaped ramp).
" We trained ourselves by following tutorials on YouTube. I also met Nicolas Planchin, president of the Freestyle BIK'ON association in Châlons, who gave me advice on building a ramp. "
Armed with their skateboards, the students were able to "drop in" and successfully pass the test phase.
" This project is really great because it allows me to deepen my managerial and technical skills. From the financing file to cutting the boards, I followed this project from start to finish," adds the student.
As part of future developments, Martin would like skateboarding to be a fully-fledged event at the 43rd edition of the Grandes UAI (Union Athlétique Inter-Gadzarique). The Châlons-en-Champagne campus will thus be the first "spot" (place where people skateboard) at the Arts et Métiers school.
