On Thursday, June 22, 2017, the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Metz and Nancy-Ochey Air Base 133 are organizing a double event on the campus itself.

The Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Metz is making its amphitheater available to Air Base 133 on June 22 from 6:30 p.m. for a conference-debate on "Aviation aces from World War I to the use of air weapons today."

This conference is part of a series of events organized by the Air Force throughout 2017, dubbed "Year of the Aces," contributing to the celebrations and commemorations of the centenary of the 1914-1918 war. 1917 was a very important year for military aviation, as it marked its advent, its explosion, and its necessity in resolving conflict and determining the victor. The event and presentations will be led by Honorary Lieutenant Colonel Didier Houmeau (former Air Force officer) and Colonel Loïc Rulliere, current commander of BA 133.

On the agenda:

  • From 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.: signing of a partnership agreement between BA 133 and Arts et Métiers
  • Starting at 6:30 p.m.: lecture on "Aviation aces from the Great War to modern air power," covering a century of developments in aerial weaponry.

A free, public conference open to all upon registration by email at anneedesas2017@gmail.com. It is being organized as the immediate result of a partnership between BA 133 and Arts et Métiers Metz campus), whose agreement will be signed shortly by the heads of both institutions.
