Saturday, May 4 will see the 102nd edition of the Grand Gala NationalArts et Métiers. After the Opéra Garnier, the Grand Palais, and the Palace of Versailles, the engineering students have decided to hold this prestigious evening event at two iconic locations in the capital: the Eiffel Tower and the Salle Wagram. With more than 1,300 people expected to attend, the Grand Gala de Paris is a real challenge for the student organizing team. This event allows Arts et Métiers engineering students Arts et Métiers develop skills that go beyond their training, providing a truly human and professional experience.
"Organizing this Gala is an opportunity for each member of the team to showcase their skills and develop new ones."
The Grand Gala is first and foremost a project led by a team of 22 second- and third-year engineering students. From developing a business plan to managing a budget of €260,000, including the communication plan and financial viability of the event, the Grand Gala de Paris requires a wide range of skills that are not, at first glance, those expected of an engineer. For Charles Blommaers, president of the Grand Gala National, "This opportunity allows each member of the team to showcase their skills and develop new ones [...] Although our training provides us with a solid technical foundation, Arts et Métiers engineers Arts et Métiers out for their versatility and ability to adapt to any situation."
For this 102nd edition of the Grand Gala National, Charles and his team have focused on communication that conveys the notions of prestige and elegance. The event's graphic charter and website have therefore been completely redesigned. The choice of venues for the evening (the 58 restaurant in the Eiffel Tower and the Salle Wagram) is part of this strategy to move upmarket. The aim is to provide a truly memorable experience for the 1,300 people expected to attend this unique event. " The alumni association (SOCE) and the School are supporting us in this strategy," Charles emphasizes.
"2019 marks the return of the Grand National Gala."
For Thomas Oriach, Secretary of the Grand Gala National, " 2019 marks the return of the Grand Gala National after a year's hiatus, and we want to restore it to its former image and prestige." The organizing team has chosen Restaurant 58, located on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower, where dinner will be prepared by renowned French chef Thierry Marx. This convivial event will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be reserved for those who register first.
Although the Grand Gala National is an opportunity to bring together former and current engineering students from the eight campuses and three Arts et Métiers institutes, this event is also open to the general public. It is a special occasion to discover the school that has accompanied every industrial revolution.
Starting at 10:30 p.m., the 1,300 participants will gather at the Salle Wagram, where most of the evening's events will take place. The program features "two rooms, two atmospheres": a New York Jazz Lounge and dance covers from the 1980s to the present day. Various activities will be organized throughout the evening.
