Arts et Métiers, a leading technological institution, and Cnam, a higher education institution dedicated to lifelong professional training, signed an agreement on Friday, April 5, with the aim of creating a new program focused on digital professions.
Starting in the 2019 academic year, Greater Chalon will host a new program focused on digital professions in Chalon-sur-Saône.
The Digital School is the result of the work of Grand Chalon, teams from the CNAM andArts et Métiers the mobilization of economic and higher education stakeholders in the region. The aim is to meet the needs of businesses in a sector where 80,000 jobs remained unfilled in 2017.
This digital school will offer a comprehensive curriculum:
- A general computer science degree offered by the Cnam Bourgogne-Franche-Comté;
- A Master's degree in "Management of Interactive 3D Technologies" from the Image Arts et Métiers Institute Arts et Métiers Chalon-sur-Saône.
After obtaining the French Tech Label in 2016 and opening the Cité du Numérique in 2021, Greater Chalon, with the École du Numérique, is confirming its vocation as a digital region serving the industry of the future.
A complete curriculum from high school diploma to master's degree
The general computer science degree is offered by the CNAM Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and is mainly aimed at young people with a scientific background, who have completed a high school diploma in science or STi2D (science and technology of industry and sustainable development).
This program will be based in Chalon-sur-Saône, which has a real industrial dynamic, serving citizens and local areas, Olivier Faron, General Administrator of the CNAM.
This training program opens up numerous career opportunities in a wide range of professions, including web developer, information systems architect, database architect, IT equipment manager, network technician, etc., in companies, government agencies, hospitals, and industries.
The program lasts three years, with the first year spent in full-time study and the following two years spent in a work-study program, with immersion in a company and remuneration for the apprentice. More than 200 candidates have already applied (via Parcours Sup) for around 20 available places. For the 2019/2020 academic year, students will be welcomed at the Nicéphore Cité campus.
Another highlight is the opportunity offered to all students who have obtained their bachelor's degree to enroll in virtual reality courses offered by the Institut Image in Chalon-sur-Saône, renowned for its expertise, such as the Master's in Interactive 3D Technology Management (MTI3D).

Supervised by a teaching team, this Master's program trains experts in innovative technologies. The Image Institute provides its students with 400 m² of technical facilities (immersive cubes, holographic screens, driving simulators, 3D headsets, interactive tables).
