The Engineering Science Olympiads give French high school students the opportunity to showcase innovative and functional inventions. The Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Metz is hosting the Nancy-Metz academy finals, with 149 high school students (around 50 more than last year!) divided into 39 teams.
The teams of two to four high school students are all from the 11th and 12th grades of the S-SI and STI2D programs at the Nancy-Metz Academy. Before the jury, they must demonstrate their ability to work in a group, as well as the quality of their work process through the tests and experiments they have carried out. Their presentation is based in particular on a demonstration of the prototype they have created.
A variety of topics: health, sports, connected devices, etc.
A fun game that allows users to learn Braille independently, an exoskeleton that assists movers in lifting heavy loads, an automatic stair ramp sanitizer for hospitals, a dynamic multi-device flight simulator incorporating virtual reality, a device that allows users to control a motorized wheelchair using only their breath and eyes, etc. These are just a few of the projects that will be presented during the competition.
6 award-winning teams – 2 spots in the national finals
Of the 39 teams, six will receive prizes: one from Arts et Métiers, one from the Arts et Métiers Foundation, and four from partner companies Mathworks, VINCI Construction France, VINCI Energies, and VINCI Eurovia. This year, more than 1,500 teams from across France have registered for the competition. Sixty of them will take part in the national final at the FANUC company premises in Lisses (91).
