The “Tech Boost’her Tour” made a stop at the IUT in Chalon-sur-Saône on March 5, 2026. The event provided an opportunity to introduce women to careers in the digital sector and the Master of Science at the Institut Arts et Métiers Chalon-sur-Saône.

Students committed to promoting careers in the digital sector

Alixe Viverge, Laura Chevassus, and Jessica Ouedraogo, students in Master of Science , participated in the event through video testimonials. They discussed their academic journeys, shared their perspectives on careers in immersive technologies, and offered advice to prospective applicants. The program covers virtual reality, augmented reality, 3D, and user experience, in line with the needs of both industry and education.

With a background in mechanical and manufacturing engineering, Laura Chevassus turned her attention to immersive technologies because of their wide range of applications.

“3D and immersive technologies are playing an increasingly important role in the strategies of industrial companies. They are used in both design and training.”

Jessica Ouedraogo, an electromechanical engineer, is interested in using technology to support the training and understanding of complex systems.

“3D visualization and virtual environments make it possible to train safely and make the industry more accessible.”

As a work-study student, Alixe Viverge highlights the interdisciplinary nature of the program and the variety of career opportunities it offers.

“The Master of Science program combines creative and technical skills. It opens up opportunities in many sectors, without being limited to a single field.”

A Comparative Perspective on Women's Role in the Digital Sector

Through their career paths, Laura Chevassus, Jessica Ouedraogo, and Alixe Viverge share a common vision of careers in the digital sector. For Laura, these careers rely above all on motivation and curiosity, regardless of gender. Jessica points out that women have always contributed to innovation and that today they must “fully claim their place in the digital world.” Alixe, for her part, emphasizes that the tech sectors are seeking to become more inclusive of women and to welcome a diverse range of profiles. All three stress the importance of moving beyond the stereotypes still associated with technical careers.

Advice for Prospective Students

The students encourage prospective applicants to take the plunge. Laura emphasizes that perfection isn’t expected and that learning comes from curiosity and engagement. Jessica urges students not to wait until they have all the answers before making a decision, noting that skills are acquired over time. Alixe advises against setting limits for yourself and recommends staying open to the opportunities offered by interdisciplinary programs like the Master of Science . According to them, the key is to give yourself permission to try and gradually build your own path.
