From August 20 to 25, 2017, 22 international studentstook part in an integration module at the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Cluny, a few days before the official start of the academic year. Here's a look back at their experience after a month of schooling in France.

An introduction to French culture 

From August 20 to 26, 2017, a few days before the official start of the academic year, Arts et Métiers 22 international students to a week of integration into French life and culture. The program for this week of immersion included workshops for reflection and discussion with teachers and trainers from the Cluny International Conference Center. They also visited the Image Institute and Nicéphore Cité in Chalon-sur-Saône. Finally, they learned all there is to know aboutthe Abbey and the activities on the Cluny campus.

A strong partnership

For the eighth consecutive year,the Institut d'Optique has reaffirmed its confidence in this integration program by sending its international students to the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Cluny. The 2017 cohort comprises 22 students from Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, China, Brazil, and Colombia. Nine of them are at the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Cluny, six in Paris, and one in Aix-en-Provence, while six others have joined the Institut d'Optique.

This momentum is supported by the170 partnershipsthat the school has established with prestigious institutions in around 50 countries. The international reputationArts et Métiers the network of foreign alumni who have experienced the integration module motivated Jan Jacek from the University of Lodz, Carolina Vénégas from EIA University, Daniel Duque and Camilo Patino from the National University of Colombia to pursue their studies in engineering and enroll in a dual degree program.

After the double degree

Once he has obtained his double degree, Camilo would like to specialize and pursue a doctorate in France or the United States.

Daniel plans to spend two years in France working at Airbus. With his experience under his belt, he will return to Colombia to set up his own business and create jobs in his country, which is suffering from high unemployment.

Carolina will also return to Colombia to promote the engineering profession, which is not widely recognized in that country. A true ambassador, she wants to change attitudes and help her country develop.

As for Jan, he wants to pursue an international career in aeronautics before considering working in his own country.
