Reda Bakri, Mehdi Amine Naji, and Soufiane Montassir, along with Gilles Régnier, are the first faculty members of the teaching team at the Rabat campus.
The first day of classes for the Bachelor’s program in Future Industrial Technologies took place on October 9 at the Rabat campus, with a class of about twenty students. This is an opportunity to spotlight the three faculty members who agreed to take part in an extraordinary endeavor: the creation of an Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers
Reda Bakri:“Helping to open an engineering school”
“I had been a lecturer and researcher in electrical engineering at the Lille campus since 2018 and was affiliated with the L2EP laboratory when I learned thatArts et Métiers a new campus in Morocco.
I didn’t hesitate to apply. It was an opportunity to be part of the launch of an engineering school while remaining within the Arts et Métiers family, Arts et Métiers as to return to my home country.
I arrived in Rabat in June, and the work was immediately very intense. We are a small team and we work in start-up mode: everyone pitched in to organize student recruitment.
We selected a class of 13 students in the Grande École program who started their first semester at the Metz campus, where they immediately integrated very well. The Bachelor’s students, meanwhile, will begin their semester on October 9.
For now, we are temporarily based on the Technopolis-Salé campus of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P). We have access to world-class facilities!
We will move into our permanent facilities on the UM6P campus at Technopolis Rabat-Salé next July.”
Mehdi Amine Naji:“We were welcomed with open arms into the Arts et Métiersfamily”
“I had heard Arts et Métiers and knew that the institution draws on over 200 years of experience in teaching, research, and national and international cooperation. I didn’t hesitate to join the team in Rabat. I knew it would open up new opportunities for me in both teaching and research.
As a faculty member and researcher in the field of industrial engineering, I am now affiliated with the Design, Manufacturing, and Control Laboratory on the Metz campus. This will open up many new opportunities for me.
During our visit to France in September, we toured several campuses (Paris, Châlons-en-Champagne, Bordeaux, Metz, and Lille) and explored their technology platforms. We were welcomed with open arms everywhere we went. All our colleagues invited us to contribute to their courses and collaborate on research projects. We could sense their enthusiasm for helping to develop our campus.”
Soufiane Montassir:“I’m discovering an environment brimming with talent”
“Since January 2022, I had been a professor and academic coordinator at a private engineering school. I learned a great deal that has contributed to my career development, but I wasn’t involved in any research and was looking for a new opportunity. I saw a job posting on LinkedIn for the Rabat campus. I looked into Arts et Métiers discovered that it is an institution with multiple campuses, recognized for its innovative teaching methods and cutting-edge research. Moreover, it is a very rare opportunity to be part of the faculty launching a new school!
Today, at Arts et Métiers , I’m discovering Arts et Métiers environment rich in expertise, with strong ties to industry that allow us to provide solutions to the problems we face every day.
The school is internationally recognized in mechanical engineering. My affiliation with the I2M laboratory in Bordeaux is currently underway. This ensures I’ll forge close ties with researchers from around the world!”
