Reda Bakri, Mehdi Amine Naji, Soufiane Montassir and Gilles Régnier are the first teaching and research staff members of the educational team for the Rabat campus.

LThe Bachelor’s in Industry of the Future Technologies started its academic year on 9 October at the Rabat Campus with a cohort of approximately twenty students. An opportunity for us to showcase the three professors who agreed to take part in the extraordinary adventure of creating an Arts et Métiers campus!

REDA BAKRI  “HELPING OPEN AN ENGINEERING SCHOOL”

“I had been an electrical engineering research professor at the Lille campus, affiliated with the L2EP laboratory, since 2018 when I heard that Arts et Métiers was opening a new campus in Morocco.

I applied right away. It was an opportunity to take part in starting an engineering school, while remaining part of the Arts et Métiers family, and returning to my native country.

I arrived in Rabat in June and we worked hard right from the get-go. We’re a small team and we work in start-up mode – everyone did their part to help recruit students.

We selected a cohort of 13 students in the Grande École programme, who started their first academic year on the Metz campus, where they were quickly made to feel at home. The Bachelor’s students will begin their school year on 9 October.

For now, we’re provisionally set up on the Technopolis-Salé campus of the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P). We have access to world-class facilities!

We’ll be moving to our permanent location on the UM6Pcampus at Technopolis Rabat-Salé in July. ”

MEHDI AMINE NAJI  “WE WERE WELCOMED INTO THE ARTS ET MÉTIERS FAMILY WITH OPEN ARMS”

“I had heard of Arts et Métiers and knew that it drew on 200 years of experience in education, research and national and international cooperation. So I jumped at the occasion to join the Rabat team. I knew that it would open up opportunities for teaching and research.

As a teacher-researcher in the field of industrial engineering, I am now affiliated with the Laboratory of Design, Manufacturing and Control on the Metz campus. This will open up an array of opportunities for me.

During our trip to France in September, we visited several campuses (Paris, Châlons-en-Champagne, Bordeaux, Metz and Lille) and toured their technology platforms. We were warmly welcomed everywhere we went. All of our colleagues offered to take part in training and work together on research. We could feel how excited they were to contribute to the development of our campus.”

SOUFIANE MONTASSIR  “I’VE DISCOVERED AN ENVIRONMENT RICH IN EXPERTISE”

“I had been a professor and educational coordinator at a private engineering higher education institution since January 2022. I learned a lot of things, which helped me develop my career, but I wasn’t doing research so I was looking for a new opportunity. I saw an offer on LinkedIn for the Rabat campus. I read up on Arts et Métiers and found out that it was an institution with several campuses and is widely known for its innovative teaching and cutting-edge research. Plus, it’s a rare opportunity to be one of the teachers starting a new school!

At Arts et Métiers, I’ve discovered an environment rich in expertise, with close industry ties, offering solutions to the problems we face on a daily basis.

The school is internationally recognised for its mechanical engineering programme. My affiliation with the I2M de Bordeaux is in progress. It’s sure to lead to close relationships with researchers from around the world!”
