The Arts et Métiers Institute Arts et Métiers Laval in a nutshell

ThePresence & Innovation research team, which is part of the LAMPA laboratorylaboratory,developsproject-based partnerships with industry, closely aligned with the needs of businesses. The aim of the work is to develop design approaches focused on the user experience.

The institute also offers a Master of Science program focused on the management of interactive 3D technologies. Unique in France, this Master of Science program Master of Science research with practical experience, involving students in real-world projects supported by companies. 
The TEEFMaster of Science in " Emerging Technologies for Education and Training" is also offered and aims to train "educational technology engineers" capable of specifying, developing, and implementing training and learning systems that utilize emerging technologies such as XR (Extended Reality, which integrates Virtual and Augmented Reality), Digital Twins, or Artificial Intelligence for teaching.

A word from the director

"For more than twenty years, Arts et Métiers one of the pioneers of virtual reality and augmented reality. Today, these topics are of interest to all sectors of activity: they are integrated into the design, manufacturing, and marketing processes. The numerous industrial applications make them a key area of research and training. The Institute, located within the Laval Virtual Center, is a major player in this field in terms of the uses of virtual reality and augmented reality technologies and is committed to strengthening synergies for the benefit of technology transfer. Another challenge concerns the development of industrial chairs dedicated to innovative design processes, such as the "IPerform Chair , which aims to make the most of Virtual and Augmented Reality for training and remote working. In June 2023, the Institut de Laval and its LAMPA research team "Présence & Innovation" (Presence & Innovation), a research laboratory atArts et Métiers, launched the "iPerform" Chair on collaborative performance via immersive technologies and virtual worlds with Alstom, Chanel, and Pôle Emploi. Since the summer of 2024, the XRS chair, a regional applied chair led by Abdelmajid Kadri and supported by the Pays de la Loire Region, in collaboration with HRV Simulation and the Institut Arts et Métiers Laval, has been combining extended reality and health projects.
