With a strong focus on issues related to the industry of the future, the Carnot ARTS Institute (Actions de Recherche pour la Technologie et la Société – iC ARTS) supports manufacturers throughout the life cycle of their products thanks to its multidisciplinary scientific expertise and technological research. Its offering is based on a network of 20 research and innovation laboratories and cutting-edge technology platforms, enabling it to meet the challenges of designing, industrializing, and manufacturing complex and innovative products. Its presence at 16 sites and in nine regions, at the heart of local socio-economic communities, gives it proximity to businesses (particularly SMEs and mid-cap companies), clusters, and competitiveness clusters.

Virtual and collaborative design for the industry of the future – booth #A02

To meet the innovation and productivity needs of manufacturers, particularly SMEs and mid-cap companies, and support them in their transition to the connected, digital industry of the future, Carnot Institutes are pooling their expertise and technological equipment in the fields of digital design and augmented, virtual, and mixed reality.

  • Digital technology for product design: Modeling, Digitization, 3D Measurement, Virtual Prototyping, Business Simulation, Collaborative Engineering, Digital and Virtual Mockups
  • Augmented and virtual reality for a new approach to people at work: Remote collaboration, Human/virtual model interaction, Virtual and collaborative immersion, Workstation design, Training and maintenance support
  • Artificial intelligence for the design of connected production systems: Digital twin, Digital and connected factory, Digital transformation, Flow simulation, Collaborative design

Interactive technology demonstrations and concrete industrial applications will allow visitors to be completely immersed, including:

  • Collaborative design of an assembly line in virtual reality
  • Virtual training in industrial maintenance
  • Assistance in representing the functioning of a product or service concept in virtual reality

Organized at booth #A02 and led by Carnot experts, with the participation of industry representatives, specialized pitches will provide an update on new technological challenges related to the digital field. A conference will also provide more information on the challenges and uses of virtual and augmented reality for the industry of the future—October 17, 3:00 p.m. to 3:40 p.m.

The Carnot label

The Carnot label aims to develop partnership-based research. It is awarded to public research organizations, known as Carnot Institutes, which simultaneously conduct upstream research activities designed to renew their scientific and technological expertise, and pursue a proactive policy of industrial transfer of the results of this research for the benefit of the socio-economic world.
