With a final recruitment session being held in July for the " Industrial Equipment Design and Operation " engineering program at the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Metz, read the testimonial of François Hehn, a first-year student apprentice. Candidates have until July 13 to submit their applications!

Becoming an engineer to have more responsibilities

François obtained his BTS (Higher Technical Certificate) in Automatic Systems Design and Implementation (CRSA) at the Lycée Henri Nominé in Sarreguemines in 2016. He then worked for a year at Opteamum to gain experience in special machinery and industrial automation. "I worked with technicians and engineers on workshop projects, which gave me a good overview of the special machinery environment."

Following this, François wanted to resume his studies and enroll in an engineering school to "take on more responsibility." He enrolled at the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Metz in September 2017: "The specialized engineering program offered by Arts et Métiers a natural continuation of my BTS."

Theory and practice in constant confrontation

As an apprentice engineer in Industrial Equipment Design and Operation, François has found a training program where the theory is more advanced than in BTS: "Here, we have a better understanding of systems, as well as better mathematical tools that are useful in mechanics and electrical engineering." And the fact that it is a work-study program allows him to gain experience: "We have responsibilities in the company, which keeps us active." François is currently doing his work-study program at Supratec Lornac.

The engineering apprentice is delighted to have chosen this program because it combines the world of engineering sciences in the field of special machinery with mechanics, automation, IT, etc. In his opinion, "if you're interested in technology and motivated to succeed, don't hesitate to pursue an engineering degree!"
