Côme, Louis, and Edouard, three students from the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Lille, won the national finals of L'Oréal Brandstorm 2026.
The French Final of L'Oréal Brandstorm 2026 ("The biggest youth innovation competition worldwide"), a national and international competition that attracted more than 8,900 entries and approximately 750 projects in France this year, took place on Thursday, April 16. Three students from the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Lille—Côme Oberkampf, Edouard Desoil, and Louis Ramette—were part of the competing teams and won the competition.
The technical aspects were highly praised by the jury
“It’s an experience I highly recommend,” says Édouard enthusiastically. “We learn so much working with our coaches. The skills we’ve acquired throughout our training allowed us to stand out, thanks to the technical aspects of our work, which the jury really appreciated.”
The three students from the campus presented the Wanted Dual project, a reimagining of the famous Azzaro perfume bottle that features a cartridge equipped with two refills, allowing users to switch fragrances to suit their mood at any time of day. It was an innovative and bold project, for which they went so far as to create a working prototype—a feat that earned them first place on the podium!
“We started with the observation that 71% of people like to switch up their perfume depending on their mood, and the idea of bringing Azzaro’s iconic barrel mechanism to life came to us naturally,” says Côme.
Putting what you've learned into practice
Louis continues: “This project was the perfect opportunity to put what we’ve learned into practice: we really thought through the assembly and technical feasibility to ensure that the dual-reloading and barrel-rotation system would actually work. Presenting a physical prototype really made a big impression on the jury. Now, the adventure continues: the goal is to scale up the project with industrialization in mind and manufacture a final aluminum version right here in the campus foundry.”
With the support of L'Oréal experts who coached them and helped them prepare for the competition, they presented their project to a jury of five experts in exactly three minutes. By winning the French final of L'Oréal Brandstorm 2026, Côme, Edouard, and Louis have qualified for the international final, which will take place on June 19 at Vivatech in Paris!
“I can only encourage everyone to sign up for the coming years, ” Côme concludes. “It’s a unique experience that lets you see how a project develops, covering not only the technical aspects but also the business model, promotion, marketing…”
Thank you to everyone at L'Oréal for this extraordinary opportunity, and a special thank you to Pierre Voisin, Alexandre Zakine, and Gian Luca Dorinzi for spending time with our students!
