Train students to master all methods and tools of digital transformation

The Arts et Métiers Institute Arts et Métiers Chalon-sur-Saône, part of the Arts et Métiers engineering school Arts et Métiers ENSAM) in Cluny, is a team from the LISPEN laboratory specializing in virtual reality and based in Chalon-sur-Saône. It offers a Master's 1 and 2 program in "Digital Engineering" as part of the "Management of Interactive 3D Technologies" cycle " (MTI3D), which aims to train students to master all the methods and tools of digital transformation (3D, virtual reality), namely to deploy sustainable virtual reality/augmented reality technological solutions, as well as to adapt to the needs of users and clients.

Introduce students to the challenges and demands they will face after graduation

As part of this training program, the Institut Arts et Métiers Chalon-sur-Saône, in partnership with the Greater Chalon urban community, Usinerie Partners, UIMM, IUT de Chalon-sur-Saône, and CNAM, is organizing its ninth competition for its students and companies in Bourgogne Franche Comté: the Chal’engeAM challenge. The competition has multiple objectives:

  • Strengthening ties between academia and industry

  • Introduce students to the challenges and demands they will face after graduation,

  • Open up new economic opportunities for businesses through the use of digital technologies, thereby promoting the digital transition through these technologies.

Entrepreneurial innovation projects focusing on energy for this 9th edition

The Chal’engeAM challenge consists of creating a demonstrator for participating companies in two weeks. To do this, students contacted companies in Bourgogne Franche Comté in November 2022 to present virtual reality/augmented reality tools and the possibilities they offer, and worked with them to define specifications for creating a demonstrator in the form of a proof of concept. The projects are carried out in groups of students from different years. They will be presented on January 26, 2023, at 4 p.m. at the Usinerie in front of a jury composed of companies and elected officials from Greater Chalon, with four prizes to be awarded: an economic opportunity prize, a conviction prize, an innovation prize, and an audience prize.

For this ninth edition, the Chal’engeAM challenge also features entrepreneurial innovation projects focusing on energy, a major issue in light of current events.
