HEROINES

In this vocal and piano recital, Marine Blassel and Manon Lamaison present a program exclusively composed of pieces that are still too rarely performed, written by exceptional female composersthe second half of the 19th century.
To name a few:
Mel Bonis, a prolific composer and one of the first women to graduate in writing and composition from the Paris Conservatory.
You will hear melodies byCécile Chaminade, whom Bizet took under his wing and nicknamed his "little Mozart."
You will discoverPauline de Viardot, another fantastic French composer and singer who had none other than the great Franz Liszt as her piano teacher. A close friend of Alfred de Musset and Georges Sand, she was also Clara Schumann's four-handed piano partner.
Then there are a few melodiesby Augustina Holmes, a student of César Franck, who was appreciated and encouraged by Franz Liszt and Claude Debussy. She was a great melodist who often wrote her own lyrics.
Finally, there isLili Boulanger, whose destiny was as incredible as it was brief. She was the first woman to win the Grand Prix de Rome for musical composition.

Convinced that this repertoire deserves our full attention, Manon and Marine combine their shared passion for chamber music and poetry to bring these extraordinary musical works to life.
