The signing of this agreement is in line with all the actions taken by Arts et Métiers integrate sustainable development issues into its training programs and research work.
11 objectives and 120 concrete measures
On Monday, January 31, 2022, Arts et Métiers the Grenoble Agreement, which commits higher education institutions to taking measures to integrate socio-ecological transition issues into their programs and on their campuses.
Arts et Métiers therefore Arts et Métiers to developing action plans to achieve the 11 objectives detailed in the Agreement:
- Raise awareness among 100% of students about the challenges of socio-ecological transition
- Train 100% of students on the challenges of socio-ecological transition
- Adapt the teaching of each course and specialization to these challenges within five years.
- Offer training to all staff members within two years.
- Increasing research participation in the transition effort
- Rely on diverse educational and administrative partnerships that respect the challenges of socio-ecological transition.
- Prepare students to adopt a certain attitude in their future jobs.
- Ensuring a humane and social policy of equal consideration and diversity
- Monitor and publish your carbon footprint by conducting a greenhouse gas emissions assessment at least every three years.
- Reduce the facility's greenhouse gas emissions by 30% between 2028 and 2032 compared to 2018-2022, in line with the objectives of the National Low Carbon Strategy.
- Ensure effective campus management to promote the health and well-being of stakeholders, particularly through the protection of biodiversity, social cohesion, and openness to the local community.
Each signatory institution then defines a number of concrete measures in which it wishes to invest.
Arts et Métiers chosen to commit to implementing 120 measures: cross-disciplinary actions aimed at developing its Sustainable Development & Social Responsibility division, demonstrating its commitment to and support for initiatives that promote socio-ecological transition, strengthening communication and visibility on socio-ecological issues within the School, and promoting the commitment of students, teachers, and staff.
By signing this agreement, the institution commits to conducting an annual self-assessment in order to achieve these various objectives.
wards the DD&RS Label
In line with this approach, Arts et Métiers to transform itselffrom an accelerator of talent for the industry of the future to an accelerator of talent for a responsible industry. The School is committed to obtaining the DD&RS (Sustainable Development & Social Responsibility) label for higher education.
For Guillaume Grampeix, head of training in Engineering and Sustainable Construction Management, "obtaining this label will enable us to go beyond the Grenoble agreement by carrying out in-depth work. It encompasses strategy and governance, teaching and training, research and innovation, the environment (real estate), and social policy—in other words, all the activities of an educational institution. The goal is to obtain the label within the next two years."
This approach is also supported by the Société des ingénieurs Arts et Métiers Soce), which is committed to obtaining an equivalent label for organizations, and the Union des élèves, which has created an environmental section.
An agreement in line with the School's commitments
While the signing of this agreement marks a new impetus inArts et Métiers approach, the institution has already initiated or encouraged numerous actions in favor of sustainable development in both training and research.
In 2020, Arts et Métiers reorganizing its research to better integrate societal and environmental issues and improve synergies with training.
In 2021, the School also supported the Arts et Métiers Student Union Arts et Métiers organizing the first edition Arts et Métiers the Arts et Métiers Ceremony Arts et Métiers Energy Transition (CAMTE), which recognized five projects led by School students in support of energy transition.
Finally, an internal working group has been set up to focus on "Responsible engineering with low environmental costs." "We will be offering a range of training courses for teachers and research professors in three areas: impact analysis; energy, production, and consumption; and the environmental context and impacts of the construction sector, " explains Guillaume Grampeix. The aim is to bring together reliable sources that our colleagues can draw on to enrich their courses.These materials should be available by the end of June or early September. "
