Training military infrastructure engineers was the goal of the partnership initiated in 2011 by Arts et Métiers ENSIM.
The gamble paid off, as the agreement between the institutions has now been renewed.
The Ministry of Defense, represented by the SID*, has thus demonstrated its confidence in the excellence of Arts et Métiers training programs.
As part of this partnership, Arts et Métiers, through its Angers campus, and ENSIM* (located on the same site), are continuing their commitment to training all military infrastructure engineers (IMI) from the SID*, in the same way as civil engineers, with the award of an Arts et Métiers engineering degree.
Focus on the military infrastructure engineering (IMI) program
The training program for military infrastructure engineers lasts four years. After passing the joint entrance exam with Arts et Métiers, students undergo one year of initial military training in one of the three branches of the armed forces. For the next three years, cadets study atArts et Métiers , upon completion of the program, receive an Arts et Métiers engineering degree. Once graduated, military infrastructure engineers are assigned to the SID* (Defense Infrastructure Service) and hold management and design positions in all infrastructure sectors: buildings, roads, ports, airfields, railways, networks, etc.
Some key figures
Since the first agreement was signed in 2011, Arts et Métiers awarded degrees to 23 military infrastructure engineers (IMI) with a 100% success rate, and 40 IMIs are currently undergoing training over the three-year period.
An agreement in line withArts et Métiers strategy
The renewal of this agreement is part of the institution's strategy to continue developing its network of partner institutions.
This is the fifth agreement signed by Arts et Métiers in just a few months.
The agreement was signed on November 30 in the presence of Laurent Carraro, Director GeneralArts et Métiers General Engineer Jean Servière, Deputy Director of the Defense Infrastructure Department and Director of ENSIM.
"The SID is particularly proud to continue the adventure and to be a solid partnerArts et Métiers. The results obtained by the first classes of IMI graduates from Arts et Métiers during their initial assignment in the service show that the training provided is perfectly suited to the needs of the Ministry of Defense," says General Engineer Jean Servière.
For Laurent Carraro, "The renewal of this partnership aims to ensure that military infrastructure engineers have access to high-quality training on a par with civilian engineers. It is an honor for us to train all the military engineers of the Ministry of Defense, which has placed its trust in us. This partnership is fully in line with the institution's strategy of developing the Arts et Métiers network in order to better respond to the industrial challenges raised by the Industry of the Future."
About the Defense Infrastructure Service (SID) and ENSIM
* Since 2005, the Ministry of Defense has had a single ministerial department responsible for infrastructure and energy. The SID thus supports all of the ministry's real estate activities in France, overseas territories, abroad, and in external operations (OPEX). Attached to the General Secretariat for Administration (SGA), the department is located as close as possible to the forces it supports, providing local infrastructure support.
*Created Arts et Métiers 2011 Arts et Métiers a partnership between the Ministry of Defense and Arts et Métiers , ENSIM, the national school for military infrastructure engineers, trains young military infrastructure engineers (IMI) for a career in the military. After four years of military and scientific studies, the young officer cadets will join the service and begin their careers by putting their specialized knowledge into practice.
