Maxime Dubois is president of the Association des Elèves Gadzarts (AEG) at the Lille campus for the 2020-2021 academic year. We look back at the impact of the Covid-19 crisis on his projects.

Maxime Dubois developed an interest in science and technology at a very young age and discovered Arts et Métiers European Heritage Days when he was in middle school. "I was amazed by the campus, and this feeling was confirmed when I took part in the Fignoss Gala during my senior year." Originally from Lille, he enrolled in a preparatory class for the Grandes Ecoles at the Gustave Eiffel high school in Armentières and joined Arts et Métiers Lille in 2019.

"My first year has been wonderful," says the engineering student, who says he has been touched by the spirit of camaraderie embodied at Arts. Maxime now wants to get involved in student life to help "create unforgettable memories." Elected president of the Gadzarts student association on the Lille campus in mid-January, he highlighted three key areas of his program: optimizing the association's premises in collaboration with the campus director, participating in the renovation of these premises, and increasing visibility among companies, in conjunction with the campus's Business Relations Office.

The COVID-19 crisis led him to rethink his plans and adapt in order to minimize the impact on community activities.

We will have to adapt to health restrictions and reconcile our activities with preventive measures, but adaptability is one of the Gadzarts' strengths!

The lockdown period also led him to rethink how to maintain ties with the graduating class: "Club life is not dead, quite the contrary! I am pleasantly surprised by the dynamism and new ideas, and several grants have been requested for new projects!" Maxime points out.
