On Thursday, March 12, engineering students from the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Bordeaux-Talence are organizing a TEDx conference on the theme of "Invisible Connections:The Relationship Between Humans and Their Environment (Sustainable Development, Innovation, Fake News)." This exceptional conference will invite us to reflect on the ties that bind humans to their environment, to better understand the "invisible connections" we have with it.
The 22 engineering students behind this TEDx conference wanted to use expert testimonials to highlight the climate emergency and the stance that everyone must take in their new relationship with the environment.
Introduction of speakers
- Thomas Durand: An expert in critical thinking, he will present cognitive biases and ways to guard against them. He will draw on the concept of acrasia—acting against one's better judgment—to explain our social behavior toward climate change. Everyone agrees that this change is historic and fatal for humanity, but no one is doing anything about it.
- Lina Hamed, Learning Specialist, will explain eco-responsibility in our societies. Her topic, "Learning to Learn," will reveal techniques that enable us to deconstruct our social habits in order to learn new practices in line with the climate emergency.
- Michael Hirsch: Actorand comedian, will take a critical look at the relationship between humans and our current society.
- Nicolas Plain, Advisor to the President's Office for COP21, will show how new technologies are responding to the current climate context, based on his experience as a researcher in the Alps. He will also consider whether the climate emergency could be an opportunity for the French economy.

About TEDx Conferences
TEDx conferences are licensed events, based on TED conferences, organized independently on a local scale by cities, companies, or prestigious universities that share the goal of spreading "ideas worth spreading." These conferences on a variety of topics are recorded and then shared around the world, free of charge, on social media.
Listen, discover, understand, and exchange ideas: that's what TED (Technology, Entertainment, and Design) conferences are all about. Driven by a dynamic community, TED is now a global movement with more than 10,000 conferences organized in 167 countries.
