More than 150 representatives from French and German universities and grandes écoles are expected in Metz for the general assembly ofthe Franco-German University (UFA) from May 23 to 25. The event is being held in a border department (Moselle) and a city marked by strong Franco-German interculturalism. The Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Metz is also the only Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers offer an integrated international program (i.e., accessible from the first year): a Franco-German program!

A major player in France and Germany in Franco-German education,the UFA brings together 186 French and German higher education institutions offering 183 binational and trinational courses. The general assembly in Metz is being organized jointly by Arts et Métiers, CentraleSupélec,the University of Lorraine (throughISFATES, CFALOR, andENIM), as well as the city of Metz, Metz Métropole, and the department of Moselle, all of which play an active role in Franco-German relations.
Three days to discuss Franco-German relations and their future

The 150 participants in the event will alternate between work, discussions, votes, and leisure activities. The program will enable French and German higher education and research stakeholders to build their future together and strengthen ties between partners.

Arts et Métiers exchange with its privileged partner, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), a German university with 20,000 students that belongs to the TU9 group of the nine best German technical universities. The Arts et Métiers dual degree is accredited by the UFA, enabling all students on this program to receive a mobility grant during their stay in Germany.

Arts et Métiers Engineer Arts et Métiers KIT

The Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Metz offers an integrated Franco-German dual degree program. Accessible after passing an oral German exam during the competitive entrance exam, the program is integrated into the first year at Arts et Métiers.

In France, students spend four semesters studying for a general engineering degree while preparing for the next stage of their career: improving their German, participating in intercultural activities, and working on an individual research project (Bachelorarbeit).

During the following three semesters in Germany, students personalize and complete their education with a core curriculum and elective courses. They finish their studies with a final internship (Bachelor's thesis).

From Franco-German research

Since last year, Arts et Métiers a Franco-German institute for the industry of the future with KIT. Six research projects have been set up within this framework and the creation of a doctoral college, supported by the UFA, has just been approved, enabling the mobility of French doctoral students in Germany and vice versa to be funded.

The Franco-German institute structures exchanges that already existed between researchersArts et Métiers KIT. It thus creates a framework enabling all students to get involved in research projects at the European level.
