Fabian Wagner is a German national. He is studying for a Bachelor of Science in Mechatronics at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and, after two years of study in Germany, joined the Grande Ecole Program in its first year at the start of the academic year.
He is one of 50 international students welcomed to the Aix campus this year.
His plan: to study in France for one or two semesters to improve his command of the French language. To be able to speak confidently even in an industrial context with a much larger specialized vocabulary. To broaden his skills in engineering professions. To immerse himself completely in French culture.

Arts et Métiers, a school that ticks all the boxes
Arts et Métiers all of his career goals.
" Arts et Métiers, with its various campuses in France, offered me many opportunities. The Grande École Program allows me to broaden my skills with a lot of practical work, such as that offered in foundry, for example, which is not offered by my university in Germany," says Fabian. I Arts et Métiers chose Arts et Métiers because I knew that the school had a good reputation and a large international network. "
All of his classes are in French. He lives in the student residence just a stone's throw from the campus and therefore speaks French every day. He is enthusiastic and making great progress. "I have the opportunity to take French as a Foreign Language classes to improve my grammar and style," says
. Practical work and projects allow him to acquire new skills that he could not obtain at his home university in Germany.
A unique human experience
Participating in campus life at the beginning of the academic year is an extraordinary and unique experience in France.
The strong cohesion within the class means that there is always someone, among the staff or students, ready to help if you encounter difficulties or have a specific question.
" I really enjoyed my welcome to the Aix-en-Provence campus, with its many events. I find the campus very pleasant and I quickly got used to life in Aix. What struck me most was the cohesion within the class. I already have a lot of friends and after a few weeks living in the residence, I talk to almost everyone."
And then….
Following his exchange semester at Arts et Métiers, he dreams of finding an internship in France to open up new perspectives in French industry.
Back in Germany, he will have one year left to finish his Bachelor's degree and then two years for a Master of Science.
He will then be ready to work in an international or Franco-German company in the field of automation or robotics.
We wish Fabian a career that matches his ambitions!
