Thibaut Louvet, a design engineer at Batichêne, welcomed Adrien Buissonnière in February—a second-year student in the Grande École program at the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Cluny—for the "1 Student, 1 Engineer" day, an event focused on sharing knowledge and exploring the wood industry.

A day of sharing and discovery

Thibaut Louvet included Adrien in his work for the day: preparing an exhibit for his new product, CLT (cross-laminated timber) made of oak, for a wood construction trade show in Paris. Together, they prepared the prototype at the future Batichêne production site.

Adrien also learned about secondary wood processing, the manufacture of wood panels and planks, as well as heat treatment—processes that were new to him and which he found very rewarding.

A proven career path

This experience allowed Adrien to broaden his engineering education by gaining exposure to the woodworking industry, a field in which he hopes to work. Although a single day is not enough to acquire new skills, he was able to get a sense of how the company operates as a whole.

The "1 Day, 1 Engineer" event helped me confirm my interest in the woodworking industry and my desire to work in this field.
