Recognition by the wood industry...

During his third year studying wood engineering at the Cluny campus, Thibaut Louvet designed a carport equipped with photovoltaic panels. He created it as part of a study conducted by the AMJE in Clunyfor Vinci Energies, a sponsor of the school.

Thibaut Louvet conducted a carbon assessment showing the energy benefits of wood compared to other conventional materials such as metal or concrete. And he has committed to using only materials available within a 62-mile radius of Cluny, says Hugo Fréchet, president of AMJE Cluny.

Then, with this same project, he entered the"Designing Tomorrow with Engineering"photo contest. He did not win, but a few months later he won the jury's favorite prize at the Canopé Challenge international wood industry innovation contest.

In parallel with this achievement, he is working on his final year project for the Ducerf group and the Château de Chassagne. Focused on research and innovation, this project combines the science of heat treatment applied to wood with the art of cooperage.

The Alban Tixier Prize was presented to him on September 18, at the start of the academic year for third-year PGE students, by Alain Dovillaire, former director of the Cluny campus and representative of the Arts et Métiers Foundation, and his tutor Jacques Ducerf, president (now retired) of the Ducerf Group.

Thibaut already has one foot in the professional world thanks to his professional training contract. He went on to complete a master's degree specializing in wood structure engineering at the Centre des Hautes Etudes de la Construction. His professional future lies in the field of construction, between production and structural calculation and dimensioning.

The Alban Tixier Prize

In 2010, the Arts et Métiers Foundation Arts et Métiers the "Alban Tixier" prize, at the suggestion of Danielle Tixier, his mother. This prize is named after Alban, a former student at Cluny (class of 197) who always showed his attachment to the school, particularly in the field of wood science. Having passed away too soon, his family wanted to perpetuate this attachment by helping deserving students through the award of an annual prize of €3,000 to reward excellence in a project-based learning (PBL) project related to this theme.
