Sustainable development

In Cluny, the student residence renovation project, with phase 2 of the work now officially underway, is transforming the campus: greater comfort, greater sustainability, and better living conditions for everyone's success. The last renovation took place in 1985.

The student residence on the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Cluny is undergoing major renovation. The project aims to modernize 41 beds to accommodate students starting in the 2026 academic year. This project, funded by the CPER 2021-2027: €4.24 million, financed equally by the State and the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté Region, supplemented by self-financingArts et Métiers. It is part of the 2024-2029 regional student life plan and addresses issues of comfort, safety, and energy performance.

A complete upgrade for the residence

This renovation project aims to complete the comprehensive upgrade of the campus student residence to meet contemporary standards of comfort, safety, and energy efficiency. It is therefore strategic for the quality of life and attractiveness of the Cluny campus.
The project involves renovating 41 beds in rooms with 2 to 4 beds, creating shared living spaces, a tea corner, a laundry room, and a laundry facility accessible to people with reduced mobility, as well as modular coworking spaces.

Clear goals for student success

The main objectives of the project are to accommodate first-year students to reach a total capacity of 175 beds, bring the renovated wing into compliance with accessibility and safety standards, improve energy performance (carpentry, insulation, technical energy management), and adapt the premises to new student living practices by improving comfort and developing common areas.

A construction site that respects heritage and the environment

Technically, this phase of work continues to pursue the energy and environmental objectives of the first phase: bio-based materials, reduced fluid consumption, and improved air quality. This project takes wildlife issues into account, particularly with regard to bat roosts discovered in the attic of the abbey building.

The Cluny campus has an ambitious policy in terms of ecological and energy transition, with several projects carried out following national calls for proposals.

The cleaning and interior demolition work is now complete. The exterior carpentry is being finalized before the start of the finishing work by the end of the year.
