ParolesArts et Métiers is back with a new episode: Meet Jean-Christophe Loiseau: fluid mechanics, machine learning, and nonlinear systems.
Background
In ParolesArts et Métiers, we talk about industry, innovation, transitions, health, materials, new technologies, and many other topics related to engineering sciences and Arts et Métiers. Everyone in the Arts et Métiers community—students, staff, and alumni—is involved in the adventure. In each episode, designed and hosted by Carole Wahnoun, a research engineer on the Paris campus, with technical support from Jean-Marc Rousseau, Multimedia Designer and Producer atICIFTech, we take the time to discuss an important topic related to Arts et Métiers with a new guest.
Podcast introduction
This episode will explore various aspects of fluid mechanics based on the career and work of Jean-Christophe Loiseau, a professor and researcher at the DynFluid Laboratory located on the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Paris.
Highlights
• Fluids, approaches, and modeling
• Turbulent flows
• Digital twins and reduced models
• Hybrid models and mathematical models
• When you are equally invested in research and teaching
Biography of Jean-Christophe Loiseau
Jean-Christophe Loiseau, Senior Lecturer at the DynFluid Laboratory located on the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Paris, directed by Jean-Christophe Robinet, completed a PhD in Fluid Dynamics in 2014 at the same laboratory, focusing on the dynamics and global stability of three-dimensional flows. He has completed two post-doctorates, one in Sweden at KTH, the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, and the other at Politecnico di Bari in Italy.
Jean-Christophe Loiseau's research focuses on the stability analysis of large-scale systems and reduced-order modeling. From a dynamical systems perspective, most of his research activities are devoted to studying the physical mechanisms that cause various types of flows to transition to turbulence and to modeling these systems using data-driven techniques.
Jean-Christophe Loiseau also works on machine learning techniques to identify and characterize nonlinear systems. He teaches mathematics for engineers, dynamical systems theory, and scientific computing in Python.
