ESTACA JOINS FORCES WITH ARTS ET MÉTIERS OFFER ITS STUDENTS A DOUBLE DEGREE IN IMMERSIVE TECHNOLOGIES

ESTACA ARTS AND CRAFTS SIGNATURE DOUBLE DEGREE 2023
News

ESTACA, a post-baccalaureate engineering school and a major European player in the field of transportation and sustainable mobility, has just signed a partnership agreement with the Arts et Métiers Institute Arts et Métiers Laval to integrate its students into the Master of Science in 3D Interactive Technology Master of Science (MTI3D) program.

The applications of virtual reality and augmented reality are expanding, particularly in the transportation sector, creating new demand for specialized skills. Companies are seeking experts in areas such as simulation system design, the implementation of new human-machine interfaces, and the development of immersive and collaborative applications.
To meet these needs, starting in the 2023 academic year,fifth-year students at ESTACA will be able to enhance their training in immersive technologies by pursuing a dual degree in partnership with Arts et Métiers. Designed to train experts in the field, this program awards, in addition to the ESTACA engineering degree, a Master of Science Science and Technology, with a concentration in Industrial Engineering. Upon completion of this program, engineers will be able to create new mobility products and services based on virtual technologies (virtual reality, augmented reality, Web3D).
According to Jean-Michel Durepaire, ESTACA’s Director General: “The challenges posed by the digital transition are at the heart of our 2023–2030 strategic plan. The signing of this partnership is part of our commitment to offering students training programs aligned with the new skill requirements of industry to transform the mobility of tomorrow. Through this partnership, we aim to strengthen our students’ knowledge and skills in the field of immersive technologies and human-machine interfaces. It is a real opportunity to collaborate withArts et Métiers this field.”

A path with multiple opportunities

With a focus on research and industry, this program includes over 400 hours of training to help students develop their skills and culminates in a six-month internship at a public or private research laboratory or in a company. Working together, the two schools have structured this program so that students can both complete their final year at ESTACA and participate in this new specialization. Arts et Métiers welcome up to 10 ESTACA students each year at its Laval campus. Admissions will be subject to individual interviews following a preliminary screening of applications.
This Master of Science program also Master of Science students the opportunity to work, depending on their career goals, on a long-term project—either an R&D-focused project addressing a real-world challenge for an industrial partner, or a research-focused project aimed at publishing the results of their work at an international conference. This Master of Science program, open to both new students and continuing education candidates, can lead to further doctoral studies for those pursuing an academic career, or offer new career opportunities for graduates: R&D manager, virtual reality or augmented reality engineer, IT project manager, consultant, or entrepreneur…
According to Simon Richir, director of the Arts et Métiers institute Arts et Métiers Laval, and Olivier Christmann, head of Master of Science : “TheArts et Métiers Master of Science Arts et Métiers built around project-based learning. Students thus develop nine projects over the academic year. These projects, sometimes individual but most often in teams, allow them to apply technical skills and develop their soft skills. Welcoming students with multidisciplinary backgrounds is part of the DNA of Master of Science . We are delighted to welcome engineering students from ESTACA, who will work alongside students from our M1 program, designers, and engineering students from the Grande Ecole Engineering Programme  at Arts et Métiers.”
