Camille Saint-Martin and Martin Decultieux shone with their ability to innovate in the luxury sector, winning second place in the Chaumet challenge.
Inventing the future of Chaumet jewelry
The renowned Parisian jewelry house Chaumet, part of the LVMH group, has organized a challenge open to partner schools. The stakes are high: to demonstrate creativity in inventing the future of Chaumet.
Our engineering students rose to the challenge. Camille Saint-Martin, Martin Decultieux, and Sophie Trombetta (EDHEC Business School) proposed a concept for adaptable jewelry, using digital technology and 3D printing.
The quality of their project caught the jury's attention thanks to its technological advances and the composition of their team. Camille and Martin met Sophie during the LVMH Inside Challenge last November. They are an example of an interdisciplinary team capable of working together, combining complementary talents: engineering for Camille and Martin, marketing strategy for Sophie.
"It was a very interesting morning from a professional point of view, which opened doors for our future careers," emphasizes Camille Saint-Martin.
The students presented their project to Jean-Marc Mansvelt, CEO of Chaumet, and to the Human Resources managers of the Maison and the Group. They won second place in the challenge.
Arts et Métiers, talent accelerator for the luxury industry
For this challenge, Chaumet called on partner schools that participated in #INSIDELVMH in November 2016. A logical continuation, #INSIDELVMH allows students to go behind the scenes at a Maison, meet managers and human resources representatives, attend a masterclass with Bernard Arnault, and thus gain a better understanding of the challenges facing the group.
With luxury and innovation at its core, it is only natural that the Paris campus should be involved in LVMH Group events. Opening up new possibilities in the luxury industry for engineering students is a key ambition for Arts et Métiers.
Being an engineer in the luxury industry means innovating in the digital sphere, joining R&D departments, improving production systems for artisanal expertise, and many other opportunities to support the transformation of luxury in the industry of tomorrow.
The partnership will be renewed at the start of the next academic year. For more information, please contact Aurélie Simoïs, Head of Corporate Relations at the Paris campus, at aurelie.simois@ensam.eu.
