All students from the various first-year programs at the Châlons-en-Champagne campus took part in the latest edition of a major joint challenge, combining technical skills, awareness, and commitment.
Organized by Jean-François WOIRIN, head of logistics, in collaboration with most of the campus staff and the student associations of the three programs, this challenge has been a key event at the start of the academic year since 2014. It brings students together around practical and responsible activities to improve campus infrastructure and develop everyone's skills.
A CHALLENGE FOR THE CAMPUS AND FOR STUDENTS
The campus challenge enabled first-year students to work in groups on workshops with a variety of objectives. The tasks assigned focused on creating infrastructure for the campus (developing new green spaces, manufacturing recycling bins, installing new electrical systems) as well as logistics, safety, and communication related to these activities. This project also helped students develop technical skills and team spirit.
AWARENESS AND COMMITMENT AT THE HEART OF THE PROJECT
Awareness and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) were at the heart of this collective challenge. Numerous workshops were therefore designed to highlight inclusive, sustainable, and environmentally friendly practices. Through these activities, the campus seeks to promote and instill in students an active commitment to social and environmental issues.
ACTIVITIES COMBINING COHÉSION AND CONVIVIALITY
By bringing together students from the three first-year programs in groups, this major collective challenge helped to strengthen cohesion among the students. Through practical activities, they were able to forge strong bonds and develop a spirit of solidarity. To round off the day, a concert was organized by the students to bring all the participants together for a convivial moment.
A SIGNIFICANT CHALLENGE FOR STUDENTS
The students expressed their enthusiasm for this event.
For Mathis, a first-year Bachelor of Technology student, "these activities allow you to discover technical expertise and work as a team, which is very rewarding!"
Bastien, afirst-year student in the Mechanical Engineering and Smart Manufacturing Engineering Program, notes that "this challenge is a very good idea, as it allows students to work in the workshop (in this case, welding) and therefore learn!"
For her part, Palmyre, a student in the Grande École Program, emphasizes the importance of these workshops in "helping the campus and providing an opportunity for sharing and cohesion."
These testimonials confirm that the Campus Challenge is a truly human and formative experience.
