The institution is undertaking new measures to prevent addictive behavior.

Alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, and gambling are all addictions that the institution wishes to reaffirm its commitment to preventing and raising awareness about. To this end, as outlined in its DDRS action plan, Arts et Métiers several initiatives at the start of the 2025 academic year.

Firstly, the adoption of a program with Qualisocial, which will be implemented throughout the year. The aim is to meet the needs related to the overall prevention of addictive behavior among students, as well as to train and support staff on this issue across all relevant sites.

This program, which covers a wider scope than the previous one implemented with the Fondation Santé des Étudiants de France (PEER CARE), will be rolled out in four parts:

  • an awareness-raising conference for all first-year students,
  • training workshops for students,
  • training workshops for staff,
  • a new poster campaign.

For students, the workshops take the form of dynamic group sessions combining educational games, role-playing, debates, and self-assessments. For staff, awareness-raising sessions can be supplemented by more in-depth training modules on the appropriate approach to take, warning signs, and internal or external support networks. Arts et Métiers a budget of €45,000 to this program.

Next, an agreement was signed with MILDECA (Interministerial Mission for the Fight against Drugs and Addictive Behaviors). Under this agreement, MILDECA committed to funding prevention initiatives to the tune of €40,000. In Cluny, this money has already been used to renovate the student residence and purchase refrigerators for soft drinks. In addition, a partnership has been established with a cinema to host conferences and debates. The goal? To show that it is possible to get together and have a good time without alcohol! Similarly, in Angers, presentations by expert patients have been organized. All of these initiatives were started by students.

Finally, a working group comprising students, staff, and alumni developed a roadmap proposing courses of action to be implemented on campus. This roadmap, which is intended for both staff and students, will be presented to the authorities in the fall.
